As to OP’s question; Gaijin wanted the K-5 tanks to be immune WHEN they were the Top Dogs. Now that Russia has 3x Relikt tanks, the K-5 tanks, which are now lower BRs, can become more vulnerable to 12.7s.
I believe all of this makes a lot of sense. I don’t think M829A4 is needed now, nor that M829A3 was needed before.
AT MOST, they could give M829A4 ONLY to M1A2 SEPv3, if they keep refusingto fix its armor.

This is a terrible idea. M829A3 is already more powercreep in a powercreep infested BR, and adding a shell like A4 (we don’t even know how it works) would be a disaster. Not to mention they denied anti-ERA for L27 and DM53, so it seems like Gaijin only wants the US to have it for some reason.

Yeah. If they want the 2020s tank to still have 1979 armor, at least they could go all the way into making it the absolutely ultimate glass canon.
If BRs were decompressed, an M829A4-armed SEPv3 would be the first tank to go up, along with the 2A7s.

I made a very precise statement; shells prior to M829A3 could not “absolutely obliterate” Kontakt-5-armored UFPs like you claimed… and now your “argument” is “just don’t aim there”?

Its literally not a glass cannon though. Abrams, besides Leo 2A7/122 and RU tanks, has probably the best armor profile. Look at Chally, Ariete, Leclerc, CN tanks, etc.

When did I say it was a bad thing? IMO SEP V3 with upgraded hull is a better idea than M829A3. I just don’t want Gaijin to give it fuggin M829A4.

Whole point of adding these shells is to make abrams perform way better than other tanks in “competitive” f2p game, which is not a tank sim. That’s it. You can already obliterate other tanks, besides, maaaaybe leopard 2a7 but beg for more.
Hell, compare it to BVM frontally, they are not very far off each other.
