I’m very excited for this tank it’s the literal offspring of a sordid love affair between a chaffee and a sherman - also best vehicle in world of tanks when i used to play that game.
Functionally identical to the M4A4’s , With the only difference being that one tiny plate added onto one of the turret cheeks and a slightly different shape to the transmission cover, Aside from that they have the same armor, Weapon, And power to weight, There is practically no difference game play wise between them.
Even though these are premiums, Its still examples of the same vehicle being present somewhere outside the native tree.
The T77 is the only thing that’s fully unique in the research tree at that rank and isn’t just a model number swap to an otherwise identical vehicle.
The rank 2 research tree has been bland and lacking an identity of its own for a long time, Aside from the T77 which they got 2 years ago, The last proper tank was the M10 added 11 years ago.
Only a matter of time before that gets copied, Because Brit mains keep begging for it and already managed to whine 2 M1’s into their trees.

You left out premiums & event vehicles from your list.
Including them, the list of unique vehicles at rank 2 USA goes from 4 to 6.
4 is the lowest amount of unique vehicles, 6 is excluding 2 of the tech tree vehicles & including 4 premium/event/gift vehicles.
Your claim was also unique.
“Functionally identical” is still unique, moving the goalposts won’t change that fact.
“Functionally identical” is also an argument that has been applied to Leclerc & M1A1 due to sharing extreme similarities in mobility, armor [the lack thereof], ammo, turret drives…
So yeah, not a good subjective argument to make.
M7 will be a new vehicle, just be happy about that.
Also comparing the Leclerc to the Abrams is wild because they at minimum look entirely different and have no relation to each other.
The two M4’s im comparing have little to no visual or game play difference.

If I remember right M7 was the we want a light tank but with armor development mess up the USA had a few times. M10 sort of almost fell into that by accident as complaints where that m10s armor was no good. Everything tank wise given time will accidently evolve into a super heavy tank with a cruiser gun if your not carful in R&D.

Hmm, I wonder why the Boarhound as named by the British should be in the British tree? Built to British specifications, at British request, paid for with British money, and then all the production vehicles were delivered to Great Britain. Makes absolute sense to be in the US tree, mhm. Totally.
Also, the M4A4 lacks a .50 cal. If you want to include tiny differences it’s also slightly longer.

You mean paid from the lead-lease debt, Which was massively reduced after the war because the Brits where going to be too poor to ever realistically pay it back, And who also still only finished paying that reduced amount in 2006, 6 years late.
