M17 ZSU - Air Defense from the West

No, they should have the 25mm and that’s it. It’s already a powerful vehicle, and Russia by no means needs the M17.

I’d like to see each nation perform to their fullest with equipment unique to their faction. If some of said unique equipment happens to be export from another nation, then so be it. I am not asking for Churchills, Shermans, Chaffees, and other foreign vehicles that can already be found in their respective nations.

But the M17 is an AA that was only ever sold to the USSR (Poland was gifted them later but they were not an originally intended recipient of the 1000 made). It has some light differences that will make it slightly worse than the American version, but with some new Soviet decals and camos I think it will fit in just fine as a rare example of a Soviet-exclusive export vehicle from the U.S.

This decal from 1945 for example, would be interesting and help bring some personality to the vehicle. The text on the left says “For Stalin!” and on the right says “For the complete defeat of the enemy.”.

This is legitimately one of the saddest attempts at a personal attack I’ve seen on WT’s forums.

It’s not an attack, I was making a harmless joke.

One of the main differences not yet noted is that the M16 on the M3 h/track had face hardened armour, whereas the M17 based on the M-5 h/track had homogeneous rolled armour - which apparently gave appreciably less protection even though a little thicker.

I’m actually editing it right now with information that I left out, thank you.
this goes for all my new suggestions.

there are enough russian aa system, and there are still domestic designs to be implemented. No need for another 50cal slinger. Maybe as a premium, but it would need the m45 mount to go alongside the su-57.

The M17 does have the M45 mount though, which makes it 2.7, same as the M16. And the SU-57 at 2.3 is also quite capable of punching well above its BR bracket, so a lineup with the M17 would still be perfectly capable.

yes, but it would then need to be premium, like all lend lease vehicles for russia.
