Lvkv 42 (fm/49) Is Largely flawed and needs to be re-worked

Sometimes I’m surprised by the devs’ negligence in their duties.

This cant exactly be blamed on the devs as When the vehicle was added there was only a handful of images of the vehicle. So there had to be some Creative imagination

But I don’t think this vehicle was top secret; you can simply go to a museum where there’s one, at least you can see how the gunners’ sights are positioned.

+1 for a remodel

It isnt out on display but arsenallen has it and they cannot currently display it for foreclosed reasons, But gaijin had visited swedish museums to record engines and look at tanks when they were Making the swedish TT, So They Did probably visit arsenallen at some Point

And the gunners sights on the current whole Lvkv 42 is not mounted on the tank sadly

Dang. 3-4 years of research is impressive! Gaijin PLS do this

Great work. Always sad to see vehicles put into the game as a complete ahistorical mess and then destined to stay that way because the devs don’t care enough.

Actually got a responce from the Armour museum in sweden from this quest of mine when i shared my info with them.

I thaught that was pretty cool^^

"The Email"

Translation:

“Thanks alot,”

“Some of this information we have already obtained from other sources, but not all. All small pieces of the puzzle are therefore very valuable.”

"We have a few vehicles in the collection that we have not brought to light for various reasons and Lvkv 42 is one of these - behind the scenes, however- we have been looking for information to try to straighten out a lot of the question marks that exist.
Lvkv 42 is a very interesting wagon and the only one that has been preserved of all the thoughts and plans that were had from the end of the 40s until the mid-60s.
There is a little, but not much written about the Vehicle."

Im mostly thankful people are actually happy enough and care enough about this vehicle to come here and share support for it to be fixed^^

Thanks all that has stopped by and read it and dropped a reply^^ Its very appreciated o7

Hopefully, this information will be used and this vehicle will be corrected as quickly as possible.

How about they just fix the ridiculous muzzle flash while deciding if they’ll redo the model?

That would be a benefit.

Also ammunition supply, even with the ammunition box, this thing’s capacity seems to be really small. If it gets a buff in onboard supply would be great, even if it’s not “historically accurate”. They tend to take liberties with vehicles for balance reasons all the time.

Highly doubt devs will work on this when they said their main focus is on top tier and they won’t be adding new WWII or older era vehicles. But fingers crossed

hehe “technically” This is a cold war vehicle lol

The low ammunition supply always seemed dubious for both the LvKv 42 and the L-62 ANTI II.

Especially the LvKv 42, which has the RoF of two standard Bofors guns but not even half the ammunition of a M19A1

And then there’s the super slow traverse of both the ANTI and the Lvtdgb m/40, which is just a truck with a Bofors gun. Really curious where Gaijin got the 21°/s from.

Here is a video of the L-62 Anti II, And the turret traverse seems to be very light.

As for the Lvtgb m/40, Im not sure its much faster than it is in-game sadly-

Meanwhile the L/70 mount is pretty damn fast.

And considdering the Lvkv 42 Turret drive is linked to the engine output and turret to a electrical motor, I think its reasonable its equally as fast.

SPAA traverse speed is kind of like the reload time on many vehicles, a balancing factor. At least on hand cranked vehicles where it is highly sped up on certain ones.
Data wise, the Lvtdgb m/40 uses the standard m/38 mount, I believe. This mount will traverse 6° with each revolution of the crank, and elevate 4° with one revolution of the elevation crank. That gives it about 3.5 crank revolutions per second to achieve 21°/s traverse. Not too unrealistic, in my opinion. Though I do not know how much effort is needed, either.

(Look at the videos above your comment here)

6° is so little.

Here it’s like 18° per rotation. Which you would expect from such a mount.

What I found is this:

(1) 40-MM GUN CARRIAGES M2 AND M2A1. The two carriages have different gear ratios in the hand traversing mechanisms. The gear ratio of the hand traversing mechanism of the 40-mm Gun Carriage M2A1 is approximately three times as high as that of the 40-mm Gun Carriage M2. The rate of traverse per turn of the crank of the M2A1 Carriage is 17 1/7 degrees; of the M2 Carriage, 6 degrees. The principal differences between the hand traversing mechanisms of the two carriages are a larger hand traversing mechanism gear case and long and short traversing mechanism bevel gears of higher ratio on the M2A1 Carriage.

So it seems to be correct. Early version had just a 6° turn rate, later it was almost 18°.

So 21°/s is actually pretty generous.

Three times higher traverse is such a night and day difference. It’s crazy that they even built something with such a low traverse rate.

But I guess you can move a lot more weight around with a lower gear ratio, so in some instances it might be handy.

Sure. What am I looking for? :P
