From the time I press PLAY to the log-in screen, I am staring at a black screen for ~60 seconds. This has been going on for a few weeks now.
i get this, it takes ages for the game to start up but i always assumed this was something caused by the rcsm sound mod i have installed, but clearly not
Probably BattlEye firing up and doing its thing in the background. Its gotten noticeably slower since it updated. Sometimes I see the message box sometimes I don’t.
I am also getting this. Since the last update, Black screen for over a minute, then it loads normally.

I’m not sure Gaijin is aware of this issue.
I have created a ticket here Community Bug Reporting System Lets see what happens.
Update - This seems to be only happening with DX12. I have tested with DX11 and the game starts up fine, with no delay.
me too. 1-5 minutes
Another classic DX12 messing up the game. It’s literally not worth using DX 12 due to all the issues it causes.
Have you tried to update your GPU drivers to the latest available for your GPU/OS?
In many cases it solve the issue with black screen/long load time.
Just installed the latest NVIDIA driver…it didn’t fix the issue.
@ Stona/Devs: If you would like any additional information/data/logs from me, please just let me know and I will be happy to help however I can. Thank you guys 🍻
I have the same massive delay using DX12 versus DX11. I added my results to your report.
Same results for me even with updated drivers. The only thing that changes the startup/loading delay is changing between DX11 and DX12.
I still think it MIGHT be BattleEye doing something as well. I see it taking a HUGE amount of my CPU % on startup and I have an Intel i9 with a huge amount of cores. Even IF it is BattleEye “causing” the delay, it definitely has something to do with DX12 as well. Not sure which is “at fault”, but checking DX12 first is probably the best place for the Devs to start looking at.
EDIT:
I do NOT use Steam, only the War Thunder launcher. Also, I have tried deleting my cache and compiledShaders folders in /AppData/Local/WarThunder folder, and doing a file check through the War Thunder launcher. These steps have had no effect on the startup/loading times.
