Lightweight Multirole Missile for Stormer HVM - Slower but Surer

Stormer is dead because no one knows how cool and good it is. I think its one of the best SPAAs for that rank. Its absolutely insane. Missiles that are like mach 4, cant be countered, just aim at the nose of the plane. Its super easy to use, less chance of missiles missing, super fast, small, cant be countered. It demolishes CAS and Helis behind mountains. Demolishes everything.

Even if they add LMMs im 100% using start streaks. Proximity isnt needed when your good with star steaks.

And have average ping below 200
But you are correct, I use the free one every now and then I do enjoy it when there are planes and no spawn camping

Yeah but thats a you issue. Get better WiFi🤷‍♂️

Everyone at that rank uses CAS like SU-25, A-10s, and Helis with laser fired AGMs. Dont have to worry about fire and forget as much. CAS fly in low and slow and fly straight to the battle field. At like 5 mile range u take them out before they get to the field.

Yeah, but that is standard for most games in South Africa. The only game studio to have servers in South Africa had to close them a few years back due to loadshedding and the expensive, unreliable power

Yh i mean im not saying dont add it. Add, it would be great, but its not better than SS. It would be good against recon drones however.

I agree with you original response. I want LMM just as an alternative to SS

Gaijin will add this aaaaaaaaany second now…

(Oh and they made starstreaks even worse now so that too)

This is really needed at the moment considering the Starstreak is still completely unusable

Gaijins adding the Martlet, but it doesnt sound like its coming to the Stormer HVM

Does however look really kewl on the Wildcat…

Although the BR of the Stormer HVM will likely have to go up, this would likely alleviate the SPAA gap between the Canadian ADATS and the 10.3 heap of SPAA. I’ll be hoping it’ll come sooner rather than later whan the devs can see how the LMM/Martlets handle.

You might have premonition powers, since with the recent Wildcat devblog Gaijin said the Martlet would ‘struggle with MBTs’ despite it having a triple effect warhead like ADATS :c

Im not totally convinced it would actually.

As it stands, im hardpressed to justify why the Stormer HVM is even at 10.3 and not more like 9.7. The Rapier is a way stronger SPAA at the moment, and both just as effective at killing light tanks. So it can go down to 9.7 without or remain at 10.3 with. If really needed, 10.7, but im still hardpressed to justify that, if it goes above 10.7, they might as well just delete it entirely from the game.

Given their comments that the Martlets will struggle to kill MBTs, then its not going to be a powerhouse Anti-tank vehicle, so that shoudnt be a concern, and there are way more powerful ATGM slingers at 9.0/9.3 already.

It would be nice for the Stormer HVM to actually be able to deal with

  • Recon Drones
  • Strike Drones
  • Fixed wing aircraft within 3-4km

Agreed, the range simply isn’t high enough to really close the gap, even Rapier has longer range than the LMM!

LMM maximum is about 6km, per Thales’ website, whilst Rapier Mk.2A is 8km (shame the Mk.2B with the shaped charge and dual fuse was never added)

To make it work best, I think it’d be ideal if we could take Half n Half, like the Army does IRL, Martlet for close range/small targets, Starstreak for more distant targets. Otherwise it’s stuck being only a SHORAD, not ideal for trying to close that BR gap…

Plus it definitely needs the damn computer guidance in Radar Screen mode fixing, otherwise starstreaks are still mostly useless outside of specific circumstances!

Honestly it should maybe be 10.0 maximum, unless Gaijin removes the random 7km range limit imposed on the Starstreaks (that figure is the maximum altitude the missiles can reach, while pulling a sustained 9Gs!), in reality, they have no fixed range limit, they just go until they run out of kinetic energy, which they get a LOT of, since they reach Mach 3 before the booster detaches (or are supposed to!)

There is a fairly significate diameter and weight different between LMM and MIM-146…

yeah a 3kg warhead is not enough to put a dent in a mbt

It has a HEAT warhead

Honestly seems kind of like a silly statement…

The employement of Martlet LMM by a helicopter vs by an SPAA system are completely different, the heli generally being outside the effective engagement capabilities of most ground vehicles in-game, while the SPAA can easily be shot and killed. The wildcat also carries up to 20 of them and can fully replenish its stores endlessly by only being out of combat for ~1min, and being almost completely safe from all potential threats barring an aircraft catching it at its helipad during one of these ~1min window while the stormer carries up to 8, and can only replenish 8 before it needs to venture to a cap point to replenish, which if its already fired all its Martlets, will be rather unsafe.

Theres also the fact that they themselves stated it would likely struggle vs MBT’s, as seen in the devblog:

So clearly it wouldnt suddenly make the stormer some godlike anti-tank system, it would just give it some degree of self defense capabilities much like many other SPAA’s have more while finally giving it the capability to strike recon drones.

Finally, theres the “before making any decisions about existing vehicles which currently have settled down at their BR” statement; Major updates are FOR new vehicles/weapons/features to be implemented, if they dont do it now, they’ll have to go through the exact same situation later. Might as well just give the Martlet to both ingame systems that operate it so you dont have to revisit the issue at a later date.

16 + 16 from ammo crate*

Though they could limit the number of LMMs you can carry to like 4-8 if they are really worried about them being too strong

This statement of theirs really annoys me because they recently nerfed the Stormer HVM and its clearly doing worse than it was before and it was kinda niche before anyway, only good at helis. So to claim it has “settled down” is total nonsense

Yup my mistake ty for the correction
