so the base hull armor is just the same as l2a4?
true, we could get the 2A6EX, the D2 and PSO-VT or even the 2A7A1 for germany in compensation for them having only 1 actually armoured leopard, but I highly doubt that gaijin knows what the difference is between B-Tech, C-Tech and D-Tech armour used by the leopards since all of them seem to have the same hull, the 2A4s having the regular B-Tech hull, considering the 2RI is a 2A4 I don’t see gaijin actually giving it a better hull, so I’d say it’ll get a maximum of 400mm of KE protection to the hull.
So even if we got the 2A6EX or any actually special and unique leopard that gaijin can’t be bothered to model because russia is great and strong and you know what? why get 2A6EX when we can get T-15 barbaris next update! as well as a premium terminator-3

Developer comment is a good example on what is wrong. Japan should emphasize Japanese vehicles, whoever wants some “Warsaw Pack” legacy is free to explore them in the Soviet or Chinese tree, or would have explored them in Korean or Yugoslav trees.

I guess the addon just works vs heat ammunition. So its more like the PL.
It already does that with Japanese vehicles (Type 90s/10s/74s etc.)…
That legacy in question is there via Thailand (who operates this version of a vehicle) whose ground / air vehicles are placed within JP TT…
One thing it is to deny plain C&P vehicles – another thing is to deny unique variants… unless you are there for limitation of additions because you don’t like Western and Eastern tech in one line-up

Kind of looking forward to it and kind of not.
If the armour is going to be cheese to top tier darts I would rather them give it dm33 and lower it in br.
I feel the same about the Oplot, take the top dart away and lower it, maybe it’s just me but I want to feel like I have armour in a tank? Or I may as well use the type 16.
The leopard 2 makes its way to another tree. How thrilling and unique.

And Thailand is basically the only operator of the Oplot is it not? I mean aside from Ukraine that may or may not have started producing them for domestic use given current events, but there is no real information on that, at least not that I have seen.

Yes – Thailand is the only active operator of that variant of Oplot. Ukraine operates BM Oplot-M – the one that was accepted into service, despite its very limited presence, while Thailand – BM Oplot-T, a slightly different version of BM Oplot that was the most mass-produced Obj. 478DU tank

Ok thanks, I know Ukraine had a handful in 2021, then they said their army was going to buy more, but I have no idea if they actually did, or the factory just got spontaneously decommissioned or something.
