Gajin surprise introduction Leopard 2 the latest variant before operational service
We need LWS and better armour
and new ammo
Too bad all the ammo choices would be irrelevant until dm83🤷♀️ literally 0 need for new ammo
Yes. Armor still as bad as ever. LWS and rooftop MG missing, cause the rollout model wasn’t equipped. DM53 is an almost 30 yo shell, which was phased out 2005. Modified DM53A1 shells were phased out in 2021 (Germany). So why is a tank which isn’t even in production or service getting this old round? They weren’t physically existing in the same timeframe.
Right now DM73 is the service round, which offers 8-10% more performance over old DM53 derivatives.
DM63A1 is in stock, but is not preferrably used for the new high pressure guns of the A7 and A8. It won’t offer more pen over DM53.
Ammo types from DM53A1 onwards consist of pellets coated with a special double base mixture, which makes them very safe to handle when applied to plasma jets, fire or kinetic force. Rheinmetall is referring to it as “Insensitive Munitions.” They’re designed to prevent ammunition detonations. When damaged, this kind of ammo just burns (conflagrates) and is not detonating. When its combined with fire suppression systems or compartments with blowout panels, its very safe in combat.
So, any upgrade over DM53 would make Leopard 2 models very safe to play. Fire instead of fatal ammo rack detonations. This would be very useful.
Thank you, that’s a more direct and informative reply
To be blunt: the issue-section moderators themselves have said that “technical feasibility alone is enough for something to be implemented.” A clear example is the Kh-38MT on the Indonesian Su-30SM that was handed to Japan — the Indonesians probably don’t even know they ever bought the Kh-38MT, but in the game it was added anyway.
So what configuration German equipment gets in the game has nothing to do with what the German government or the Bundeswehr decided in real life. It depends entirely on what the developers want. And just recently the issue section produced the latest absurd quote from a moderator: “the developers can pick the equipment themselves.” See? Whether a piece of equipment gets added has nothing to do with reality — it comes down purely to whether these developers feel like giving it to you.
And if we really want to talk facts: in reality, on the Russia-Ukraine front, the Russian side is still firing 3BM22 and even 3BM42. By that logic, 3BM46 and 3BM60 should all be confiscated outright.
On top of that, the Su-30SM2 can only take the AL-41F1S engines or the A035E radar — one or the other — because based on public information, there is nothing showing that the Russian military has a single Su-30SM2 carrying both at the same time. Yet in the game it was added anyway. They even slipped the Su-35S’s twin-pylon racks into the game ahead of time, in loose, piece-by-piece form — purely because it’s “technically feasible.”
Notice how this “technical feasibility” only applies to one country
I don’t even know what to say anymore, I’m laughing out of frustration. Bro XD
All this just because the German Leopard at the rollout ceremony lacked several systems. There are several high quality sources how the final service variant of the Leopard 2A8 will look like. Why don’t they use this?
Say that to all 64Es that got LDIRCM.
Wait, all of this drama started because German 2A8 didn’t get LWS, a pretty niche module on it’s own ?
yes
TLDR: it is to have a LWS in the production version but no concrete information has been released which one it will be.
Among the numerous possible configurations of the German Leopard 2A8, Gaijin chose the prototype version to be included in the game, but this version is only used to evaluate the equipment’s usage in the troops. They said, “This is a selective configuration.” But when they see tanks equipped with better equipment after official debugging, they will remain silent and do nothing.
The complaints have been lingering for a long time, and every instance of discriminatory treatment only adds to the dissatisfaction. This time is no exception
Eurosatory tanks are not representative of functional systems however if you are referring to that.
It is only a what if mockup showcase
Who knows the specific situation, but using domestically produced equipment is also a reasonable consideration. It won’t be long until 2027, and then we will know the final configuration chosen by the military
