Historically speaking, the MiG I-225 and other variations of the MiG I-200 were made with this sole purpose to intercept reconnaissance airplanes such as Ju-86P, so is technically realistic as it’s labeled as interceptor in-game even being considered as high altitude fighter,
However, giving the air spawn to such low battle rating airplane would require the same feature to be give to all other interceptors in-game, at the start of the match, higher altitudes in lower battle rating matches matters as bombers tend to be weaker and airplanes spawning in the airfield doesn’t have engine nor is able to catch up a plane at 7 000 meters or more.
For further reading I suggest you these links which go deeper in information about the MiG I-200 series:
I think that air spawns should be given for balancing reasons rather than for historical reasons, otherwise American fighters should realistically start at mid to high altitude lol. So as others have said, unless it gets dramatically uptiered, absolutely no reason for it.
Air spawns for anything but bombers should have been removed from the game when we got seperate brs for ground and air, and everything readjusted accordingly.
hmmm i dont know, i bought xp50 thinking it was going to be op monster according to this forum and reddit, and its alright but nothing to write home about, and pretty boring to fly, i prefer the p51d20 actually.
so idk, very big grain of salt on people saying X=OP
It USED to be OP because of its performance, maneuverability, and airspawn. 4.3 was a consistent sight of XP-50 players being in 6.7km-7.5km+. It’s main weakness was control stiffening which was hard to exploit against a good XP-50 player, but truth be told I’ve only found a handful of them during my tenure in the 109 F4 and G2.
oh it had an airspawn? i only started recently, i didnt know. Now i understand the crazy things people said about it lol, i still think its fun to fly and the speed is good, but its very stale, boring plane and ammo ammount is eh
yes i also am shocked to learn it had one, it climbs like a rocket for its br
people go bananas over this aircraft’s climb rate, and will laugh at users that ask for an air spawn. But it was, indeed, a high alt interceptor. Such is the J7W1 too and they refuse to give it airspawn either.
I225 is a great aircraft, it’s just NOT meant for furballs.
do you really think this plane is 5.0 worthy at all?
It’s only issues are bad temp and high speed lockup, it rolls still good enough at high speed and you can easily pull out with full real controls, which means this plane does not compress as badly, it’s just castrated by the instructor.
The J7W does not have as good climb rate, high altitude performance, or low speed performance. It’s also a whole BR higher. Playing “who suffers the most” isn’t interesting, but if one of these deserves an airspawn it’s easily the J7W.
well, the j7w1 can have the air defence fighter spawn, the i225 can have the attacker spawn at least. While it is true that it has good climb rate the i225 doesn’t really start shining until it climbs over 4500 meters of altitude.
