SO! Little tip. Get newest driver always. And mess with your graphics settings and don’t do ultra low quality. You can turn it really high, but turn things off like anti aliasing etc etc. There’s a sweet spot for long range rendering for every machine. I couldn’t get anything to render past 4km, now I can see anything anywhere. 30km no problem.
The Derby is basically just a 120. Max range may be way up there, but short as anything boost time. And coming from the ground it’s even worse. Far overestimating the Derby. Derby 1 is already in the game on a number of aircraft, it’s far from overpowered and i prefer the 120.
I mean you can have vehicles render way further than 20KM, by default it is further out but is dependant on your graphic settings, however you can change this further in the config.blk by adjusting the “rendinstDistMul:r=” value, however this isnt exclusive to vehicle rendering but everything so unless you have a 4080/4090 this can seriously chew through performance.
But all munitions have a 20KM lock limit in either TV or laser when using pods, thats a hard limit set by gaijin.
Aircraft on the other hand though do in fact not render in post 18km+ ranges, you can see contrails “sometimes” but the physical aircraft body just doesnt exist.
SPYDER personally wouldnt be OP because you could just give it Derbys and while they do have a theoretical range, that range you cannot even reach when your at 30kft in altitude cruising at mach 1+.
So a ground launched derby would have a seriously limited max range, probs about 20-25km because even achieving this on a jet at low alt is very difficult if it starts to evade
Yeah you never said it but I figured it out by checking your account. If youre fought against pantsir of your lvl, yeah its definetely not a death machine. But the problem is you never know who is playing it. If its skilled player, youre not gonna be allowed to fly within 80% of most maps air space and youll be forced to hug the ground. Its not only preventing you from observing the battlefield and finding targets, but also puts you at a disadvantage in air combat, because your fox3s would have much less energy then your enemys ones.
But its only a part of the problem. Israeli aviation only have bombs at top tier, which means its extremely dependent on certain parameters such as air speed, altitude, and angle. You cant just jump for a sec to launch few mavericks at 1.35M. You have to slow down, get a right angle and drop extremely slow bomb while also being exposed to S1, because you have no speed and you are limited in your maneuvers.
Pantsir should recieve a weaker missile at least.

There are several decent CAS options for Israeli fixed-wing and helicopters, and just adding a few suitable light tanks to them can greatly expand their highlights and advantages in GRB mode, but I really wonder why the developers of Gaijin don’t do this, just add magach that never ends
Derby had 50km range when given benefits of a supersonic jet doing the launch at few kilometers of altitude.
If AMRAAM launched from hovering Harrier has max range of 30ish kilometers, with No Escape Zone below 10km, Derby would be fine even more so how easy ARH missiles are to defeat. Python 4 is already in files for year+ and it would be fine IR missile upgrade over MIM72G

CAS players will throw a tantrum if Spyder is added. HVSD/ADAMS is the best candidate - and would be very similar in capability to current systems we have in game.
Would basically just play like a TOR w/ a CIWS. Everyone’s happy. Israel players can actually defeat helicopters from beyond 1.5km (And for the first time be able to counter drones in any capacity), and CAS players can still yeet KH38’s at us from low earth orbit. Win win.
I don’t think there is a single country in the entire game who needs any one particular thing more than Israel needs a top AA, we have the perfect candidate, it should be the absolute priority addition, and so with that said, I look forward to us getting another Magach / Sabra derivative every update until 2026.

They do, But Type81 is still significantly better than either Machbet or Chaparral.
Heck, even Type-93 is better than Machbet & Chaparral, at least that thing gets the optical contrast lock gimmick.
ngl, I’ve used the Namer in place of any SPAA for top tier because I find it genuinely more capable then any SPAA I have available to me.
Unlocked it the other day and have been doing exactly that in my few outings thus far. Man it feels good to be able to do something against Heli’s for a change.

Not particularly, from personal experience the Type 81 is a very good vehicle, it’s actually one of my favorites behind the Pantsir-S1. Israel is the only nation lacking a top tier SPAA right now and maybe Italy depending on how you look at it.

6 second burn time, when ground launched it is going to be way less than that and extremely sluggish outside of 8km which is (burntime)*(max speed). 8km good maneuver range plus multi-pathable. Honestly the Pantsir is still better.
