Is there a workaround for the naval repair bug?

I am back having to play naval for the event and i see that the repair bug is still not fixed. Is there any workaround to make it stop?

I heard that it only happens during your first spawn so i tried to bring a reserve destroyer to J out of as my first spawn. That does not seem to work though.

what is the bug

When my ship gets hit, it will start a hull repair automatically even though i have repairs on manual.

It has been a thing for several months.

Not a bug, that’s a game mechanic you need to switch off the setting

What setting?

Don’t remember, I just left it on when they added it. It’s some toggle to use the old repair system

Im assuming you are thinking about the advanced damage control system option. I have it turned off.

Hmmm yeah no idea unless it reset itself back on, I know settings can do that on occasion

Not the case here.

The fire and damage control all work correctly. Only hull repair happens when i dont want it to. Its very annoying and causes deaths due to it making my fire fighting go from like 8 sec to 30. I can manually cancel it but the second i get hit again it automatically starts.

I have a feeling that gaijin wants it to happen to push people to use the automatic system. The bug report from a few months ago was replied to basically calling it a suggestion and not a bug.

the bug report from a few months ago is probably from before the toggle for the setting got added in the first place

literally why would they do that

Toggle was added several months ago when they added the automatic damage control system.

Probably the same reason they added the automatic system. People would not repair aa on their battleships which led to people taking a long time to sink. I guess people complained that it took too long to get kills via crew loss.

can you send a link to the bug report?

which was added for the arcade bozos, same reason arcade got the auto aim, to make it easier for people to start playing naval without having to learn as much

Yeah, i refuse to use it because it just means that people can kill my battleship with like 75mm HE. Since the bots spam HE that rains constantly, your crew would just melt as it keeps repairing your aa.

Gaijin thought it was unfair that brainless morons couldn’t just spam your ship to death by constantly just shooting center mass, so they tried to force auto repair to keep constantly recrewing those areas so idiots didn’t have to try to shoot somewhere else.
EDIT: found the quote

The New Damage Control Mechanic for Naval

so it seems its not really a bug they just merged two features out of convenience, even though they were more useful separate

It is a real shame how broken Naval has become, I do not bother to play it now due to all the changes most have been detrimental to the game play and skill needed.
For this particular problem it removes another piece of realism in order to dumb down the game to a common denominator, part of damage control in the real world is prioritizing what is the most serious or dangerous situation and dealing with that first.
Compartments may be flooded with crew in them in order to save the ship or left to burn out, now it is all automated by a poor algorithm.
Part of the problem is balance in a shallow shoot em up it , like its rival it is not a strategic long term game, ship classes have fairly defined roles and only in extreme situations will they carry out suicidal or certain death actions ( see Taffy 3 and HMS Glowworm).
So you have unrealistic situations such as this and in its rival where destroyers and cruisers spam HE and burn a battleship down to the waterline, not realistic but the only way in the constraints and limitations of the game to make these vessels useful and not useless.

Outside of the people who just want to mindless aim to hit any part of the ship to get kills, i think another big issue that pushed the new system was how awful stock HE is once you get to stuff like heavy cruisers and battleships.

Trying to play a top tier ship with HE only is such a bad experience as you cant really hit anything critical.

Yes some of the damage modelling for shells are pretty poor, not sure if it happens in Naval here but in the other game destroyers consistently tank large caliber battleship shells, while the smaller calibers seem to do more damage especially as the battleships seem to have been made with extremely flammable materials.

For war thunder, gaijin cant seem to go a full year without completely flipping the meta.

It will go from HE being awful to HE being able to nuke everything and back again.

Yes I have just given up on the game, like all new things the first two weeks were like wow this is brilliant.
Now it is just stale, old and broken in so many many different ways. I just play with no interest or commitment it is just a chore now not a pleasure, which is what it should be as it is my leisure time I am wasting.
