its a crap aircraft whenver i see it i think “oh boy a free kill!” with f104 its more often annoyance as they tend to run away faster in my experience
you are probably just making chaff more visible to the radar, the aim7e2 can track through chaff within a cone but when going horizontally from the f4e its really easy to get outside the cone which the radar can guide through chaff.
i probably got stuff wrong about how it works, but in practice its irrelevant, this is how the aim7e2 behaves in my experience and f4e is stil lmy most played aircraft.
normandy is right though Notching should do nothing again aim7e2 as it doesnt have a doppler seeker so you cant trick the seeker into thinking you went stationary my going perpendicular
F-104 is an interceptor that can’t turnfight, designed for Air-Air in a specific way.
MiG-23BN is a ground attack only aircraft that happens to be fast and more maneuvrable than F-104, but lack AAM.
both are not comparable to each others,…
the F-104A counterpart would be MiG-21F-13 or PFM
My proposed fix for this plane is easy, give it the mig23M flare pod for 12 flares, give it the r13m or the r13m1 but only 2 of them on the wing pylons and move it to 10.0, its not hard and would make this plane more enjoyable
If we give fictional loadouts to more vehuckes then every struggling vehicles has to get it. Unfortunately thats not gonna happen also 10.0 with flares and 2 missiles its 10.3 material then lmao
its more historical than you would belive actually
Then post docs and images and suggest, i wouldn’t get my hopes up as if they conflict with what gaijin wants the vehicle to be we just wont see a change regardless of proof or not.
historical means it happenned IRL for the Mig-23BN.
and from sources, the only missile you would be able to get are 2xR-3S missiles (IR missiles) on wing pylons for MiG-23BN - but East german ones never got them and never installed them (so it’s a “NO!”)
BVP-50-60 flare/chaffs pods are confirmed for MiG-23BN in germany - so this should be possible
with Flare/chaff → 10.0BR (as there is similar aircrafts without flares/chaffs but with missiles at 10.0 already)
owning the missiles doesn’t matter
Germany didn’t have 9J either
F-4F in germany got the AIM-9J due to mount trials done through NATO exercises.
German MiG-23BN never ever carried those R-3S.
Iirc the r3s and r13m/m1 use the same pylon therefore it wouldnt be too hard to modify
M61 is of the worst guns as for what damage it does.
BUT in general has good ammo load in all platforms and pods so that’s an off set.
The problem is if you have 1 pass and you see hit hit hit…and the other keeps flying normally and just kills you because the gun just doesn’t do damage even if it connects.
Also in the 104 you showcase it’s maybe the worst gun to have for 2 reasons ,m61 needs 1 sec to start shooting and 104 has trash nose authority for corrections.
you can “modifiy” an existing one,… but the fact still remains - MiG-23BN never were using R-13M’s/M1’s and never been in their whole history (as in all countries using Mig-23BN)
the R-3S is still NOT an option, as the East German one never did.
Yet, you can still ask for the BVP-50-60 Pod - this one was available & used by East German MiG-23BN
the MiG-23BN doesn’t need to be a fighter type variant (as it was never made for such use)
thats something i already talked about, and i dont know how the seeker on the r40rd works, for example you can notch r24r cause of seeker of the missile.
R-40 works the same as the R-24R, so on both situations, you need to notch the missiles
yes but from what ive seen 1 chaff will spoof the guidence radar and if you move a little itll disappear
