Iris-t slm

There is an issue with the guidance method,
When I was replaying the video, I found that when the Iris guidance head was in TRK mode and locked onto my aircraft, I made evasive maneuvers and dropped high drops of thermal decoys and foil strips. At this time, the missile’s guidance head turned into inertial navigation
Iris should be an infrared image that will not be disturbed by thermal induction and foil strips

I also found that the missile data card shows that the missile data of Germany’s Irist is 40g overload, while Sweden’s Irist is 60g overload. Does this match?

IRIS-T SLM TRML-4D Missing back scanning radar functionality

Both missiles should be capable to make rotations of up to 60 g at a speed of 60°/s, but note sweden uses IRIS-T SL while germany uses IRIS-T SLM

It seems to me that the missile has significantly excessive drag. It can barely reach 15km, nowhere near the advertised maximum kinematic range of 40km. It also can’t exceed mach 2 during flight. Does anyone have any sources/bug reports on this already?

Currently cannot find any bug reports regarding its drag, speed or overload, only flame color.

A good idea would be to make a test where a target is 20km high and prove the missile cant reach that altitude, or try testing the horizontal range using a stationary helicopter.

So problems that need to be bug reported:

  1. Max speed: 700 m/s (M2) —> 1029 m/s (M3).
  2. Caliber: 180 mm —> 152 mm - 157 mm.
  3. Maximum overload: 40 G —> 50 - 60 G.
  4. IIR Lock rang: 9 - 12 km —> 20 - 25 km.
  5. Explosive mass: 4.5 kg —> 11.4 kg (need to be checked.)
  6. Projectile mass: 155 kg —> 110 kg (need to be checked).
  7. Smoke trial —> smokeless or the smoke should be reduced.

Isn’t the lower diameter and mass only for the SLS, the SLM has a much fatter rocket motor, after all.

The SLS mass and diameter are apparently even lower, even in-game:

It is bigger but not 180 mm big the regular IRIS-T is 127 mm in diameter and 2.94m in length and only 88 kg in weight so as you can see here the SLM version is just a bit bigger than it.

On a side note i really want to know from where did gaijin pull these numbers from.

There’s an article somewhere that states a 140kg weight for the SLM interceptor, i can’t find it again.

It seems to me they got the 180mm number simply from the modelled dimensions of the SLM rocket.

The motor section is about 1.4-1.5 times as wide as the guidance section, and assuming the guidance section has the same diameter as the SLS, that would get you a 178-190mm diameter motor section.

Compared to IRL images of the missile, the in-game dimensions seem fairly accurate.

Will the IRIS-T SLM truly only have a 9 - 12 KM Lock on IR missiles?? That range doesn’t really deter the CAS to just yeet off AGM from god knows how far.

@Smin1080p_WT could you may say if the SLM is allready ready for testing or still placeholder?

It has datalink so can be guided on to a target then lock on once within range. In dev I have no problem shooting down targets as soon as I see them at about 15km.

I think it would be cool to also have access to the GBMMR version of the radar truck with the CEAFAR radar with constant 360 degree radar coverage. Though admittedly that’s not the one in service with the Bundeswehr.

Though I suppose if the TRML-4D is fixed to act more like a rotating version of the Pantsir’s track radar, constantly scanning the hemisphere in front of it instead of just a thin line, you’re already most of the way there.
