Hopefully they implement the “Back scan” of the TRML-4D, where it essentially gives another pass over already detected targets to update their position when the radar is facing away from it.

In the Video below an effective Range of 40km and alt. of 20km is claimed.
That should mean that it can hit targets at 40km right?
Correct, but dont mix them because its either the max height of 20km or an lower range and 40km wirh lower height
During tests it was supposedly capable of hitting a target 30km out in around 60 seconds of flight time, but in-game it doesn’t come anywhere close to that level of performance. IRIS-T SL achieves qualification after successful firings at Overberg - defenceWeb
Yea, because the Missile itself has quite a few Issues, like
its to Slow goes only Mach 2.4 instead of Mach 3
Its likely also to big in diameter
Also to Heavy, the Warhead is likely to Small
Also the Guidence of the Missile isnt working as it should
It is also not pulling enough G’s which gives it less time to accelerate towards the target
For targets far away it’s not supposed to accelerate directly towards them, but fly at an inclined trajectory up to high altitude where the atmosphere is thinner, and then glide back down.
For example, during tests to hit a 30km distance target, the missile’s apogee was 12km.
You guys might want to check that out when it comes to SLM radar
the Issue is, we cant use the files, we have to prove it in game
How is that supposed to be done? AFAIK theres no way to see the RCS of anything in game
You can technically take smth like a Scout drone or very small rocket / missile and try with that.
In theory, while these very likely still have a higher RCS than 0.01 m², if its not able to see these you know the Radar is no where near the 0.01m² detection.
Doesnt the standard MiG-15 target have a known/acknowledged RCS ingame? Could use that and some math as well no?
It can, but at closer ranges. I’m not sure here, but I assume it means the 0.01 at max range.
I don’t know, but even if, I highly doubt its below 2m² even. Maybe @Gunjob has an idea how you could report / test properly it.
Btw @Dontkev-psn , I am probly wrong but shouldn’t the Launcher Vehicle have some kind of Passive Radar, enabling a limited stand-alone capability ?
No. Launcher has only 2 DL antenne, one to connect to command vehicle, other to guide the missiles.
