Do we have any sources that say it can relock using DL. Because it cant in game I that might be something it has IRL.

hey 🙂 cythraul98goat thx for your kind help and efforts and yes the SLM despite the great improvements it got this dev still can’t reach Mach 3 and won’t pull more than 25G even though it’s supposed to be a 40G missile even with or without TVC that limit is still holding it back in real engagements props to werecat888 for that solid bug report hopefully that pushes things forward

now the biggest issue left is the datalink the SLM cant use DL to guide it after launch which is a serious problem it kills its potential especially against cold or low flying targets like here
if it still can be guided by DL i would been blown but instead only use IOG which isn’t good vs manoeuvring target and also the radar seems to update too slow and often loses lock mid flight especially when the target fires a missile drops bombs or manoeuvres the radar ends up slaving the SLM to the enemy missile or bomb instead of staying on the aircraft which makes the first shot almost useless because it tracks the wrong thing
this is a core flaw and needs to be fixed and thank you

Im sure this source has already been posted but this pdf Diehl Defense brochure should be a primary source (so we only need the one), and it states that the IRIS-T SLM has “Multi-datalink capability (realtime and non-realtime)”. From my research multi-datalink means it is two way datalink and should be enough to specify that the missile is able to regain lock after losing lock for a time.
Anyone who is up to date on all the reports and has more experience with this, let me know if I should make a bug report using this to try and get the SLM in game to be able to regain radar tracking after losing lock due to chaff or terrain.

did the SLM player tracked you all the time?
because currently the SLM can only DL 1 missile to the enemy at the time, If you switch tracked target the DL will be used for this one, if you relock the DL from before is back

So does the datalink channel reopen? Becouse ive heard that the Iris t slm looses datalink ability after it looses lock 1 time

With the changes on the SLM the Intercepting of Munitions is even worse than before

The incerpetion rate is abyssmal even for missiles (not only bombs), for such huge targets intercepting is such a important thing, i already see a su30sm ground hugging and then launching 6 khs at my face without me beeing able to do anything
