Iris-t slm

Spoiler

Oncoming target from 30km. Sniped in less than 30 seconds. Quite alot of energy left too.

Eh? Thats the loft, it’s launched from 0m /0m/s, it just has enough energy to get that high and far.

Also, can you pls use spoiler for the Pics?

Sorry yes, mobile formatting! Ahah

Thats why ))))))

Can someone explain to me why everobody believes that the total missile mass is 150kg?

This was me basing off the fact that this thread says 155kg is correct.

I find amusing that an AI can figure out that a missile with the characteristics of SLM, can and should be easily breaking speeds above Mach 3. When given the raw parameters, that is, web searches tend to be biased. Yet Gaijin is pretending this missile can’t even reach out to 30 km to hit a stationary target, so when will Gaijin drop “realistic” from their title, if top tier is turning into a fantasy game.

Spoiler

This model gives us a top speed around M3.5 for a practical launch.

I find that number highly unlikely, perhaps for empty (without fuel) missile.
Considering size of the missile, platform which is the launcher mounted on, mass of the missiles with the similar size etc mass is more likely 240kg which is mentioned by some UA sources.

Woah 240kg? No way, remember standard IRIS is 87kg, no way is the motor going from ≈30kg to ≈180kg.

240kg sounds much more like the SLX weight.

Where did you get that number or idea from?

Because the standard IRIS-T is not even 90kg altogether.

Are you saying that the shroud and propellant are supposed to triple the weight of the missile?!

That’s like 150kg for the added motor alone as added weight.

That seems really excessive especially given that the SLM isn’t nearly big enough to realistically store this amount of weight.

That is actually what I was thinking regarding both FB10A and SLM, cause I did some volume calculations, compared them to IRIST and FB10, and concluded that either they should be lighter than they are right now, or they carried more fuel than rn. Seems weird how they just have like a bunch of weight for no fuel.

SLM certainly does not carry enough fuel.

Yeah, IDK why they have like 67kg of extra weight and only around half is fuel. I was initially looking at FB-10A cause it has even worse performance. I think either fuel is too low or it is too heavy.

SLM is longer then SLS and has double the diameter, therefore at least triple the volume of the SLS.
So 240kg kind a stick.

But therefore I asked for explanation why the at least three times bigger missile weights less then double of its smaller counterpart.

Double the diameter!? Are you OK?

If this is not a double then I don’t know what is it…

127 vs 180mm. Not double.
It does have a lot more volume that I do get.
