You could try reworking the report into the missile being unable to hit its advertised max ranges and leave it up to Gaijin to figure out how they want to remedy that. The max 40km range and 20km altitude figures are widely advertised by Diehl themselves.
For now I will let it stay like this, hopefully Diehl does me an favor and replies…
i still dont get how germany has so much gimped stuff PUMA Leopard 2A7V Eurofigther PzH2000 Tornado F-4Fs Gepards (missing AHEAD) list goes on and now we can put the IRIS-T SLM on that list too by the looks of it
It’s funny how they immediately contradicted themselves in the devblog, claiming IRIS-T SLM has a range of 40 km, yet in game, it can’t even break 25 and has a maximum altitude of 12 km as of testing right now, should be 20km.
Malicious hard nerf before it’s even out is crazy, bug reports denied on the spot. Yet, Kh-38 can seal club at any distance in any map. Seems like bias already.
just like the PzH2000 we got 6 months ago so far we are still missing the Spall Liner SAP Modern HE that it used we even have one of those ingame already easy copy pasta so i m guessing in around 4-5 years the SLM gets a slight buff
The manufactuer would lie because? Source? Weren’t things like this meant to be taken at face value unless proven otherwise? Hopefully Diehl is able to get back at the least.
its gaijins way of saying WE BELIEVE because reasons like on the 2A7V post we dont believe germany made better armor or we believe the stinger is only a tiny bit better than the russian copied Igla
Btw were these linked yet because here they state it directly.
You’ve gotta be kidding me… What else can we provide. And even then testing the missile proves that it cannot even reach 40km against a hovering target. This does not make sense
would this work too?
the issue is, sure they mention the range
but we need the Speed of the Missile
wouldn’t it be enough to tell them that the missile is unable to get even somewhat close to 40km in the game under like already tested perfect conditions?
like what more would you need to show them after it almost stalls trying to hit a hovering plane at like 75% of it’s advertised range?
wouldn’t it be enough to mention that the offical websites of diehl and the stated links of them clearly talk about the missile being a great improvement over the sls?
the issue is it is advertised as maximum engagement range/engagement envelope not the missiles kinematic range which gives a much broader interpretation as a target flying towards you at 5-10km and mach 2+ will not require a missile with 40 km range to engage it when it is 40km away
I tried to do a bit of digging but couldn’t find anything substantial. The only thing i found was on the air launched version which sadly wont help much.
Edit:
Found this that confirms the ability to target smaller targets:
Still all sources so far state that all variants of IRIS-T missiles are mach 3 capable missiles. It would be great to have something that has effective range of at least 15-20km instead of 10-12 just like we currently have with FlaRakRad…
Sadly wont be usefull for the SLM, but tbf, I dont even know where they got the Mach 2 from to Beginn with, like we know the SLS goes Mach 3 also in game, we know the SLM has pretty much everything the same like the SLS just Bigger, also an bigger engine…
So where does the Mach 2 come from???
Did you perhaps test the capabilities of the SLS? I’m interested to see its energy comparison.
Dont have it on dev, also I dont know anyone who has it,
But from test drive, range wise it performs MUCH better because the SLS goes its 1000m/s
