IRIS-T SL - The Surface Launched variant

in france its known as the Crotale NG. same thing as the french version just on a different chassis; it was developed by france

The finnish version is also present in the french tree tho

ITO-90M is the finnish version.
France got it because

France doesn’t have any domestic examples of the VT-1 Crotale system in a singular self powered vehicle. They were all trailers that needed to be detached and deployed or a team of vehicles that had different equipment on each. The weapons system in this platform is the French VT-1 Crotale, just it’s on one of the best platforms it’s been mounted too.

Just a little update on the Skyranger
Its supposed to get an anti drone launcher with 9 missles
Also we can read that it not only has 2 Stinger as shown in the pictures but 4

according to a Swiss evaluation, CAMM-ER, MBDA’s competitor to the IRIS-T SLM with claimed superior performance, is significantly worse than IRIS-T at long ranges

They say it should be considered as a short range system

At the same time they also claim that IRIS-T is not all weather capable however Diehl’s testing in ZA showed a higher hit probability than the requirement for the Swiss program

This would honestly be the ideal addition for french AA at the 11.0 bracket

France has its own AA system, go ask for those instead of a german one

Yeah but gaijin will never add anything unique to france so if germany gets it they will probably copy paste it into france like they did with the Ito and sweden

Prolly cause ItO uses some French technology (the missiles & the turret).

On the other hand, what does France have to do with IRIS-T? Nothing. If we’re gonna walk down the road that way, might as demand Leclerc XLR (or Rafale) for Germany just cus.

Doesn’t Saudi Arabia use the system?

Why would France get IRIS-T SL through Saudi Arabia (when they don’t even use it)? There’s no rhyme or reason to your logic.

Saudi Arabian sub tree or something because of the rumored premium saudi leclerc

What??? Saudi Arabia doesn’t even have Leclercs, they use Abrams.

Did they not trial leclercs though?

Right, a sub-tree of a nation that doesn’t even use the Leclerc (they use Abrams), doesn’t have IRIS-T SL AA systems in their inventory (so they couldn’t provide France one with even if they wanted), and at the same time - there haven’t been rumours of a Saudi sub-tree last I checked, are you sure you’re not confusing them with like, UAE?

When?
Even if they did, you want a sub-tree based on a trialed vehicle that was never even adopted?

Man r You high?

no but i may be kinda stupid
