No? You do realize youre expecting to literally use ww2 tactics against cold war and modern SAMs and be allowed to do so effectively without being killed?
I am sorry, but yes.
It is historically accurate and far more realistic than using guided-munitions (In most B.Rs apart from the very top ones) Soviets even with their MiG-27s and Su-17s relied heavily on dumb munitions in most wars.
Please read this and compare the hit probability of SAMs vs Jets in Vietnam:
Correll, J. (2004). The Airforce in the Vietnam War. Aerospace Education Foundation. Available at: The Air Force and The Vietnam War PDF | PDF | United States Air Force | Vietnam War
I’ll spoil it, 80% of the killing was done by Flaks, and then take out the MiG air to air kills.
The Arabs mind you, suffered far more than the Vietnamese, because the Israelis were flying low. Using dumb bombs with their F-4s and Mirages etc.
Spoiler
One is the “the_right_people” bit of a pro-Russian source but it does provide some evidence of its use.
There is other sources such as the testing of 9M317MA in Astrakhan back in 2020, supposedly it just entered service in 2022.
Iris-T rarely hits something above the 12-15 km bracket. So it would be in line with past decisons that Ru gets something with absolute superior effective range. In the past is was the 20km pantsir, while the rest barely reached 10km effective combat range, some even stuck around 7km or less.
Right decision would be to just consider it balanced right now. Range wise Pantsir and the other top dogs are no that far away in terms of effective range. When Russia gets its 70km range systen, it would be time for Patriots on the other side. Cause the ceiling would be raised again.
Pantsir and SLM are the only ones to have effective range further than 10km, every other new SPAA cant hit anything thats manouvering at 10km+
Gajin likes to tweak long range missiles in a way that their startcard says something like 80km, but igame it mostly hits within closer ranges. Like Amraams in Air RB. Irl there are successful shots over vast ranges, ingame they start to tumble and get anemic around 20km. True BVR hits are rare. Same as Iris T, which has 40km effective combat range irl, but ingame you rarely score above 12km.
They were against barely capable enemies and still suffered losses because of such, and the lack of usage of guided qeapons was out of necessity not inherent want.
Irrelevant.
The arabs were utterly incompetent.
In an ideal world, nothing. The Pantsir S1 should’ve been added in the leviathans update.
Wait, hold on.
Are you saying you use the Su-7 at top BR for GRB? The top tier BR which is 12.0-13.0BR?
If so, you can’t legitimately expect to get anything done with such an inferior platform.
Additionally, you should not be trying to gun strafe ground targets at and near top tier - The only time that works is if there’s absolutely no SPAA and next to no IFVs trying to engage you.
Since the Pantsir was added, it took 2.5 years before they added an equivalent counterpart to any other country, how about Russia wait the same amount of time before getting something better than the Pantsir?
Maybe if we want to distinguish the tor between the China tree and the Russia tree and give Russia the TOR on the wheeled chassis. I have no idea why Russia doesn’t already have the TOR M1 but the CN tree does. maybe add them to the Russian tree when BUK comes or even add the TOR M2.
I have no idea if the wheeled chassis would improve mobility for it though or be a burden.
dear god not another soviet SPAA please
No dude, I use Su-7 at its appropriate B.R.
As someone already posted above: Pantsir should have been introduced with last update. Just a few weeks and Ru might most likely get something which again surpasses everyone else.
Most likely it will be worse than a much more versatile pantsir due to slooow scan, ~3km missile deadzone and uselessness vs heli.
france/italy is getting the samp/t 120km range vs 70km range on the buk m3. u would definitely need ARMs to counter these or atleast cruise missiles.
If they get it. Imho that would be just the next level of SAMs. Not anytime soon?
Alright. Just keep in mind that even at its own BR range the Su-7 isn’t untouchable nor should it be, and the same logic applies to every other CAS platform in that BR range. The same logic also applies to trying to gun strafe - It’s not ideal. If you don’t have munitions, RTB to reload as trying to strafe is the quickest recipe to getting slapped down by SPAA or CAP.
Russia has the best overall SPAA selection across the board, there isnt a lineup without a brilliant option, they do not need any more unti ground is decompressed to 20.0
I don’t have a problem with a response to my attacks, I have a problem with how effective they are.
I do one pass and I see 2 missiles and Flak rounds coming towards me. From 3 different vehicles. Its a bit ridiculous.
Ok, at Su-7s B.R it is somewhat manageable. At top tier, playing real CAS is incredibly difficult. For example, I got shot down less than a minute after taking off from a runway, whilst hugging the trees, by an IRIS-T.
