Same, and I love it.
The F-16, very well known for its dogfighting capabilities, that’s why no one uses it in tournaments, and barely makes top 5 best dogfighters in Rank VIII jets.
The F-14 being an amazing dogfighter? Please don’t make me laugh, that thing can barely turn me on, much less turn in less than 20 seconds. Maybe it could win because people are too busy laughing at it.
F-18 is good at slow speeds, I’ll give you that. Doesn’t really matter when a Grippen can turn a full 180° and just gun it straight in half.
F-15 is known for its ability to spam missiles, not turn fighting.
F-4s, nope.
F-5s, I’ll give you that.
So congratulations, out of all the ones you said, only three are actually “good”: F-16, F-18, and F-5.
Now how about we talk about actual good dog fighters:
Grippen: used by the majority of tournament players
Mirage 2000: again, a plane used by tournament players and can actually turn on a time. Plus Magic 2s and MICAs make it very strong.
J-10: lovingly considered a Chinese Grippen, but a bit heavier, however it comes with R-73s for those fun shots.
JF-17: another Chinese plane that fights very well
Su-27s and various knock-offs: really great at turn fighting, plus can do silly manoeuvres. Oh, and R-73s.
MiG 23s: a better fighter with more speed and manoeuvrability than the F-5
Mirage III: better turns, better flight, Papa John’s
Rafale: the dominant dogfighter for the longest time. Even after they nerfed it, still top three.
Eurofighter: now the best dogfighter, and was top three for the longest time.
Let me guess, you don’t know what flaps are?
Are you also blind?
I said f4E
After playing 4 battles
i got 1 kill
I know what flaps are, doesn’t change the fact that all I need to do is use airbrakes in my Grippen and I am on his tail before he turned 21° to the right.
Also no, F-4s are not manoeuvrable. Maybe the F-4E is the best of the Phantoms, but the Brick can never, and will never beat anyone in a proper dogfight, UNLESS you’re bullying some Day 1, fresh faced baby who just bought a premium.
A better fighter? No. Speed? Yes.
In my experience, I have beated up F-5s in my MiG-23M for Hungary.
Obviously you haven’t played enough to know how to dogfight.
The f14 you can quite literally float behind the target.
F4e, I mean it’s not the best but it’ll get the job done.
F15e, you can use your thrust to do pretty much anything.
F-4E is very good coming from a guy that grind through tier VI to top tier with it(me)
I mean yeah but it was, sadly, heavily bricked…
Obviously some people (not you) haven’t used it.
Yeah, the F-14 can float. It does it quite often, usually when it’s on fire. Rare instances when I pilot snipe them.
Phantoms again are trash. I trust my MiGs over those dreadful things. I still regret buying that Phantom two years ago.
F-15, I will give you. It can fight in certain circumstances, but it’s better as a missile boat.
Ever since I used the F-4S to get to the top, I have refused to use Phantoms ever again. I slipped past it completely for Britain, refusing to use them. MiGs are where it’s at.
my K/D is 0.5 with F-15E rn, the problem is that
since im stock, i have no chaff so i cant really go high, im not used to go high yet
on F-4E i hug 0m and go ACM/Radar to fire my 7E-2
i dont know how to play F-15E with my usual playstyle(and im stock anyways)
Sadly I used the av8b(na)
Apply the same to the 15e rn but sit in tws until targets get 10miles away, then go to hms and sling 9ms from 3 miles and under
what does tws(yes i know what does it do) even do(as in why), i listen and try tws but its kinda iffy
I would have preferred the AV-8 if I were to be honest. Alas, by the time the AV-8B came out, I had no use for it. Plus I also gave up on America at the time, and only came back when I found out the glories of Sim. As in, bringing two napalms and going fast as heck.
TWS is “Track While Scanning” which is very useful for locking someone without locking them. AIM 120s doesn’t need a solid lock like a Sparrow does. As long as the green box is on them, it will still fire towards them.
Solid lock is a full green box on them
TWS lock has a green box that isn’t solid (missing middle bits)
So you can use that to fire at someone and they wouldn’t know you locked them and are firing at them. It’s extremely frustrating when that happens because you’ll randomly be sniped and it’s an AIM 120 from the stratosphere that you never got a warning for.
