I skipped the F86 entirely. The Alpha Jet… it’s okay, but is it slow. That’s all I remember about it - it’s just slow.
For rank 7, I highly recommend unlocking these two first:

They’re genuinely good. That’s only true when fully upgraded.
People told me to avoid the E and just play the C, what do you think?
Just quit the match if you get uptiered.)
I remember playing it back when it was at 10.3, before all the “decompression,” and it was actually amazing. But now, at 10.7… if you see an 11.7 match, you’re better off just leaving. Trying to fight MiG-23MLs in that thing is just a joke.
The “E” version differs from the “C” in that its countermeasures (chaff and flares) allow you to play it from altitude, rather than only relying on low-altitude flanking maneuvers out of blind spots, like you have to do with the “C”.
…unless you get put in a match against 11.0+ vehicles.
The flaps make this plane extremely flexible. It can usually beat every opponent it faces in one quality, such as top speed, climb/acceleration, or turn.
Under 840 kmh IAS, use combat flaps, and you will turn considerably more efficiently. Between 840 and 390 kmh IAS you can ‘edge’ the flaps from combat to takeoff position, getting an even tighter turn circle when needed. Below 390 kmh IAS you can fully drop flaps if you need an even tighter circle. I find myself even turning with Mig-15s when at low fuel and doing perfectly fine. Above 800 kmh IAS, you can also edge the combat flaps to get 1-2g more out of your high speed turns.
The same applies to the Super Etendard.
Alright, I’ll try to figure out the flaps, it would make sense that they help. I didn’t notice that the combat have such a high max extension speed, it’s good to know
Are you sure people meant the IVM and not the super etwndard? That one is quite a bit better.

Fucking love the IIIC. You get the 530 radar horsecock as stock. As soon as you unlock the magics you are just unstopable in 10.3 matches and below.
Don’t use the combat flaps at high speeds (over ~700 kmh), they will literally make your turn slower.
Etendard relies on its amazing acceleration and climb rate to succeed and execute hit and run attacks on people in lower energy states. Accelerate to mach .8, climb up at that speed until you meet opponents then work your way down. Avoid getting into low speed fights as you aren’t suited for it despite the enormous lift the takeoff flaps give you, you simply bleed too much speed to keep up with dedicated dogfighters, just straightline it out of there if you missed your shot.
As other people have mentioned over a certain speed the combat flaps will make you compress really hard so be aware of that.
Yeah I learnt it the hard way lol, at 1000 kph combat flaps will cause the plane to just fly straight and it will turn even less than an ouragan near mach .9
My main issue with this plane is, what it faces is often either much faster or turns much better so I have a hard time in both cases, especially since there are sometimes really good missiles that I just can’t dodge with the poor turn
Dodging missiles and engaging faster plane is something that comes down to the vague concepts of positioning and game sense, you have to know where you are in relation to possible enemies and decide where to go and who to engaged based on that, or if you can cut off that supersonic zipping across the map/avoid the nastier missiles you can get lobbed at you by simply not having your rear exposed to them.
It takes a lot of practice but if you always analyze why you died and try to think about what you could have done differently (rather than blaming the game or just saying it was an impossible situation) then you will improve over time.
True. Usually I die to 3rd partying from a supersonic dude passing by while defending someone on my six
I also die a lot on the airfield because the air defense is very much useless at this tier
