HMS Vanguard: End of an Epoch!

No, british doctrine ditched floatplanes mid ww2 because radar could do everything a floatplane could do

Looking good, just need some of these features retroactively added to our top tier, but yeah, looking good

Odd choice to jump to the Vanguard. KGV, POW anyone?

Also balance the devblogs please. We just had a brit one.

The plane and tank beforehand was also very naval-focused

new $80 premium pack )))))))

Oh god, I hope not, I’m not sure what I want as a rank VI premium. KGV after getting a TT KGV maybe, but I’m actually fearing it will be Nelson

Technically it was South African.

(And a pretty weak, barely usable vehicle at that)

Besides. It’s naval, Rule Britannia

The US?

Not in this era. From the battle of Trafalgar in 1805 to about 1943 ish, Britain was the undisputed masters of the sea. Britain could take on the combined navies of the US, France and Prussia and win quite easily. Then when Germany was formed, it focused its attention on them and just look at the Battle of Jutland.

It wasnt until the end of WW2, where Britian had to focus on rebuilding after the Blitz and the US had a huge navy as a result of their war with Japan that the US over took Britain in terms of raw numbers. But even then, Britain maintained a lot of its strength for a number of years before retiring ships.

There is a reason why Britannia Rules the Waves

You honestly think the British could take on the US fleet after Roosevelt kickstarted the US Navy?

If they are adding a whole new rank it is effectively guaranteed

Probably.

Though the US focused more heavily on capital ships needed for fighting the Japanese whilst Britain focused more heavily on convoy escort ships (Cruisers, Destroyers and Corvettes) for fighting the U-Boat threat and Britain lost a number of Capital ships throughout the war, she also cancelled a lot of capital ships at the end of the war

You need to read way more books, the US had a wide variety of ships, and were the premier submarine force even with defective torpedoes.

and?

Britain had just as good if not better battleships

They had better carriers (armoured flight decks , etc)

they had a very good anti-submarine fleet developed from fighting the U-boats.

etc etc

US was larger in sheer number of ships by the end of the war, but I would still say overall their ships werent quite 1 for 1 on par with Britain’s and Britain wasnt hugely far behind in raw numbers.

It probably wasnt until more like the 1950s that Britain was out of that fight and mostly due to post war rebuilding that the US never had to do

You need to read more as well, because the US were playing catch-up for the vast majority of the early 20th century when it came to fleet power
