it’s hard 😔
Hi @Yr_gamerpro,
I’m going to hold your hand when I say this… HMD and JHMCS are essentially the same thing. No, HMD is rather the category and JHMCS is an item under said category. For example, JHMCS isn’t the only one. There are also TopOwl (HMD for helicopters), HMSS (Helmet Mounted Symbology System; it is the European equivalent of the JHMCS used on Eurofighter Typhoons). This is all to say that since the F-15E’s inception, it did eventually get a HMD/JHMCS upgrade.
Next, the Su-34 is primarily used in a bomber role with very limited air-to-air capabilities so it wasn’t necessary to give it a HMD. In addition, in real life it was not meant to fight close range with anything, although it carries missiles that can do this as a last resort. From a practicality standpoint (I’m assuming you saw the cockpit of the Su-34 here), it would be incredible difficult to use any sort of HMD where your visibility is somewhat limited.
Glad you took it as a joke.
You cant say “ChatGPT said” or you will get clowned on, you need to show a reliable source, and IA isnt, now that you edited it, its better
A the JHMCS for all tense and purpose is a HMD just a different name.
JHMCS is a type of HMD. Helmet Mounted Displays (HMDs) are a category that the Joint Helmet Mounted Cuing System (JHMCS) is an item within.
HMD simply means a display is being shown to the pilot via their helmet. What that helmet displays depends on the specific product that is manufactured by a specific company/country.
I personally consider HMS to be a subset of HMD since HMS’s only show where the pilot is looking/aiming and do not have HUD elements like heading, speed, altitude, etc. But people are free to disagree with me on that.
Here, I will put this nice little diagram here to make it easier. I used the examples @Code_649 gave in his reply plus the F-4J/S and Russian HMS’s to include in the HMS section.
Barely better. It went from “Oh this thing definitely has this stuff that I used AI to research” to “I actually didn’t mean the AI part so I’m just going to remove it and pretend I did research after the fact to remove a feature from a plane”. The presented facts are still of questionable value, when you note just how many aircraft would lose HMD following this individual’s standards.
