we have all been on the recieving end of them top fragging from uncounterable safety and in the case of the ka50s being severely damaged and still flying away like they are unharmed
I tested it on a dev. If you destroy the electronics, all helicopter functions except flight are disabled. All you can do is fly back to base for repairs.
The Ka-52 and Mi-28NM are just so much better than the Apaches lol. I have friends that play the former 2 helis a lot who I trust more than you, because they are actually somewhat decent at the game.
Maybe thats new today. When I played on Friday I broke them and nothing changed. I ripped the whole tail off too.
Why would you trust me over your friends anyway? That would be betrayal.
I play helis relatively frequently. They’ve a lot more time to screw someone over than planes. And if you sit just above the trees, not much can be done about you.
Radars dont work well and IR seekers suck above trees, you’re unkillable to most SPAA in most situations
bruh, current helicopters in game are surviving literal missiles to the face and 120mm shells. This absolutely was needed. Add armor to protect them from 30 cal fire, but idk about high velocity 50 caliber projectiles, seeing as how some are designed to penetrate exactly that: helicopters.
Yes but its APFSDS which has an actual diameter of around 25mm when you lose the sabot. In addition there is no HE filler to cause secondary damage. So unless you hit something critical you are basically firing a Bradley’s gun with a high velocity and density round. If you were to fire with the MPAT round instead you would have a lot more success.
Ironic given they nerfed MPAT to its current state because of all the Kamov whiners.
As someone partial to flying Kamovs, MPAT is not the threat you think it is. More of a threat than sabot, sure. But that’s like comparing a mosquito to a nat, especially with American aim. Does make it pretty easy to know where to send the rockets though, so feel free to keep doing it.
f4s has a pulse doppler
Yay, the high-tier helis are finally getting balanced :D maybe the KA-50/52 will actually behave like it should when it loses its tail…
The missiles also need a nerf but I’ll take something.
You are aware of physics and that the dual rotors doesn’t need the tail like the other helis?
It behaves how it should since it doesn’t need its tail due to having counter-rotating blades. The issue is that it survives rounds it shouldn’t as a whole. Sometimes lobbing several rounds from autocannons isn’t enough. This will help with balance and realism since helicopters are resilient in real life but not to the degree they appear in-game.
And in that tail are a majority of the electronic systems. It doesn’t need it’s control surfaces. It needs it’s tail
Yes, I’m aware of the physics, that’s what MechE means. However, the loss of the tail rotor means a lot more outside of stability. The KA-50/52 was designed to lose its tail and have the basic amount of functionality to land without losing the air frame. In this game, you can fly like a banshee when the tail comes off.
Well it does need the control surfaces as well. That’s how you remain maneuverable. But I understand your point :)
There is SO much more that the tail offers, even if its not important for rotational stability. If the chopper didn’t need a tail, the designers would have left it out.
What I’m getting at is that it’s not going to crash immediately. I’m aware of control surfaces and electronics in there. I’m just saying unlike most helicopters it isn’t going to immediately die because of its design but it shouldn’t be as resilient as it is.
