Another photo in the collection actually explains XX156’s role as the weapons development aircraft for the RAF
Couple of other interesting ones in the collection:
Hawk T.1 XX154 (the first prototype) with 5x 1000lb bombs. First time I’ve seen an RAF-serialed Hawk with the centreline bomb pylon fitted. But again demonstrates what I was saying that Hawks have had 5 hardpoints since the very beginning, but use of the other 3 was aimed at the export market CAS role - explained on the back of the photo
