Harrier GR.1: The Worst Jet in War Thunder

That’s only F-84F issues.

We had airspawn for F84B/F84G even when they had fighter roles because runway was from WW2 era and it was tiny for taking off.

It’s not 2015 anymore though.

Over the years, we have way larger, longer and more modern airfields now on most Air RB map rotations including EC versions (Ex: Vietnam, Afghanistan, Rocky Canyon). The F-84B/G seriously don’t need the air spawn anymore.

Literally every F-84 player I’ve encountered so far equip nothing and has been pretty much abusing the air spawn to get a huge unfair advantage in airspeed and altitude on anything they face with an already decent performance BnZ fighter platform.

You may not be able to turnfight as well as compared to something like the F-80 or MiG-9 but the F-84B/G has always and still can reach a pretty high top speed (around 900+km/h) and accelerate more quickly than something like the Me 262, Kikka, Vampire and other early-generation jets at their relative BRs.

And shouldn’t that mean that the F-84B/G should get their airspawn removed since it isn’t an issue anymore?

nope

This goes completely out the window when you remember, the “role” a vehicle is given in game is completely arbitrary. Many attackers can dogfight better, or at least as good, as its true fighter contemporaries. And many fighters, such as P-47, are likely the best, or at least on par with true attackers, when it comes to ground pounding.

And in this specific instance, Harrier is quite well known for its air-to-air performance in reality. A player expecting Harrier to be a competent in the air is totally justified.

It would be great if players would be able to just be shown or taught this somehow, instead of just thinking these planes are bugged/bad/wrong in some way, and having to hunt through forum posts to find out, this specific plane does not operate the same as the hundreds of others that do.

Either that or change how War Thunder models the Harrier throttle.

Have 100% be what 80% is now.
Have the the throttle then go up to 110-120% still which is what going from 80% to 100% throttle is now and then have the water injection a toggle keybind instead of being WEP.

A bit more complicated but I think it would work well.

Never saw this reply, apologies. That would be a perfect change, as we already have the La-15 that goes to 112%, so going past 110 thankfully doesn’t break the spaghetti code. In fact, it is strange that isn’t what they defaulted to.

I guess they just dont want to code the water injection toggle and decided having it as the WEP was just the easier solution, but it is a shame they have yet to properly added “2 stage” afterburners to this (I know 2 stage afterburners do exist by staying below 105%, but I mean that 100-110% is one stage perhaps making the throttle yellow and then 110-120% as second stage that makes it red. Water injection could be stage 2)

Now Japan is getting a Harrier at 9.7 with flares, while the UK is forced to play at the same BR without having flares. It’s great to receive an AIM-9L to the back with nothing you can do about it.

AV-8S is 100% identical to the AV-8A its been fighting for years (except with a better RWR I think) So nothing will change. But I wonder if they’ll fix/buff SRAAMs

Alright, but it’s the premium version from the United States tech tree.
