I prefer this though the Pneumatic. * Pneumatic Operation:
- Advantages:
- Very reliable with fewer mechanical components, reducing the chance of malfunction.
- Can be extremely fast, providing high rates of fire.
- The air pressure can be regulated to control firing speed, which can be an advantage for precision in some contexts.
- Disadvantages:
- Requires a constant air supply, which can limit mobility or necessitate a bulky, compressed air storage system.
- Might not be as powerful as gas-operated systems in terms of sustained fire without significant air tank capacity.
and to GSH-6-30 the Gau-8 still has more punch with it’s 30x173mm to the 6-30’s 30x165mm
Maybe do a Mix of the Pneumatic with gas.
Maybe but it could fire the APFSDS round of the 2A42/2A72, Aka UBR-11, so roughly 120mm of pen.
you win there. The PGU-14/B API ammunition can penetrate 55 millimeters of armor at a distance of 1,220 meters and up to 76 millimeters of armor at closer ranges of approximately 300 meters . Huh this comes from a site that is call warisboring.
Another source claims 100mm but does not give at what diffistance.
Yeah; could be point blank for all we know.
Keep in mind the GSh-6-30 had, MAJOR flaws; it would vibrate the MiG-27’s apart, extremely loud due to its positioning, and a number of other things, the gun it’s-self wasn’t bad, it’s just that it was put in a plane it wasn’t designed to be in.
they needed their own A-10 a plane built around the gun.
No, just equipped the GSh-6-30 to the MiG-27 (Strike Fighter MiG-23)
I have a video on it, let me find it.
That was a dumb choice just looked at it. It was not meant for that.
Gun aside, the MiG-27 was an extraordinary jet.
did they fall out of the sky? cause that is a warning that is given to A-10 pilots don’t fire to long or else they fallout of the sky.
Partially, mostly the fact that it vibrates the plane so badly it would literally shake bolts loose, and required inspections after every flight.
well not smart should have just built a plane around it.
Well, it’s partially a matter of bad materials used for the planes, just watch the video, it goes in depth better than I can.
I will later but I say that cause thats what america did with the Gau-8 by making the A-10 along with other things.
The fix was a “tactical 150 rnd burst” that would only allow 150 rounds be fired before you couldn’t fire any more without releasing the trigger, don’t know how effective it really was though.
There’s also the Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-30:
