And how the hell is giving a f14D w/aim-120 gonna affect the performance or it getting buff/reworked of the aim54C if anything if the aim54 does get upgraded/reworked other fox 3 would as well or people will complain like hmm idk the f-90 and than just put the aim54 back in its place theirs a reason when even the f14 was in service that it was getting replaced by AMRAAMs and the aim154 project
See that’s the problem people think it was only a f14A that tested AMRAAMs when it also could of been a Nf14B(u) or NF14D/f14D(r) that did exist at the time no document saying they specifically used the f14A-65 it just says f14 and that it’s designed for the f14D but yall just like to connect the dots when it suits you
Also they could have shown the f/a-18 shooting 4-6 amraam yet it’s the f14 doing it in the diagram
See - this is some of what I was trying to find - I just couldn’t find it.
Enlighten me - what part of the collective arguments is actually weak, and not Gaijin just being stubborn?
The F-15C ‘Golden Eagle’ is the F-15 2040C program, to basically take the C models and upgrade them to F-15EX standard. This upgrade NEVER HAPPANED, in fact the idea was shelved almost off hand because of the cost of upgrading existing old airframes, and with only the 2 seater E models currently being produced, leaving it to only the EX. The Yak-141 had none of it’s weapons or systems - but they put it in the game. These are both tech tree vehicles, and I’m sure there are others people can point to - that haven’t been removed - that follow similar patterns. Without going to ones that go the opposite way like the F-111A getting worse missiles than it should have for no apparent reason. So - ‘it’s not real’ is a completely invalid argument for giving the F-14D a software patch, when they have done way more than that to make the F-15C GE and Yak-141 a thing, oh, and we could also add to that if we really want the F-16AJ since Japan never really operated that. Oh - and various planes that operate at ‘peak’ performance instead of having issues that actually held them back like instability, shuddering, etc.
Documents - like I said, I can link the various GAO documents, that span roughly a decade if not more, literally stating ‘the AMRAAM is going to be on the F-14’, and the most recent of those specifying that the Navy was in fact going to have that patch go in to the F-14D’s still as of 1994 (I believe 1996 is when funding got shifted to LANTIRN), and was literally marked as being capable per the report because of that fact. Another person in one of these threads literally linked one of the pieces of page that spells out that it was supposed to have 6x AIM-120A’s. We have loads of available to the public, not hard to find - I literally found the GAO ones in less than an hour - documents going ‘this was a thing, it was supposed to be a thing, it was going to be a thing’. So - it can’t be documents.
Where the missiles go? One of those GAO documents literally spells out the fact that AMRAAM was meant to replace the AIM-7, research beyond that also backs this up - and that it was designed specifically to slot in to AIM-7 slots so that it could be equipped to then active F-4 Phantoms and the like, which is why Germany is the one country that has F-4’s with AIM-120A’s because it was the only country still operating them that also acquired AMRAAM’s. That - and the fact that an F-14A was used to test them - gives you all the info needed on where the missiles would go on the plane, right where the AIM-7’s would normally go.
It’s a real plane that existed, and is in game. The missile existed and is in game. A software patch, and that’s it, is the difference between it being used and not in reality. Other aircraft - that were never even armed - have systems and armaments they never had, other aircraft that were basically just an idea that were shot down over cost to upgrade aged airframes, aircraft that were never actually used but considered as an option, exist in this game in the tech trees, which are way larger stretches than an software patch. How is that any weaker than the Su-47 lets say, that was passed to Devs, and would require creative liberties in arming it and all? Or the already in game aircraft I mention?
at least 6, there were images of a tested dual rack, unsure how far that went
So 10 it is
Using this dual AMRAAM launcher as depicted below, this brings the total to 8 AMRAAMs. How and where would two extra AMRAAMs go?

lol I wish but we don’t even know where the other missiles would go other than dual amraam rack
i would say the AIM-9 rack, but i’m not sure if those would’ve been rewired to use them
Oh I forgot I accidentally deleted my comment but yeah some guess either where the external fuel tank station are at or the aim9 station and maybe relocate the aim9 eles where since if I’m not wrong the lau127 also works on the f14
Every single F-14D(R) is a retrofitted F-14A, thats what the (R) stands for, even in real life.
Pointing other times gaijin has been arbitrary doesnt strenghen the argument, it actually weakens it. No matter if it was actually planned, and even briefl funded, unfortunetly there was never a F-14D or F-14D(R) armed with amraams. Thats a strong point and gaijin will keep hammering it down, and its down to them to add up in the last stance.
No point in being so overly defensive about that.
Well that’s correct. However i don’t see the issue to not fix 54s properly. They are still way out of how they should be.
If anything GJ tried to AMRAAMify them more than recreating the results 54s had in tests and data recorded.
If you take it by the book 54C/C+ should have maximum performance inside the plane’s launching or even flying envelope . The thing can produce that performance if you go 3km higher than the plane’s ceiling and around 2,5 mach launch speed…
Also, even in lower altitude it shouldn’t behave like it has some kind of thrust vectoring and deplete all it’s energy trying to pull cobras for as much the motor is on. It has a very bad flight model.
If they fix that the plane should be ok.
Asking for AMRAAM , when it clearly didn’t use it won’t go anywhere.
Even if you can say NF-14D may did tests (possibly still classified etc.) as it it did with other weapons that F-14D never used (HARM/HARPOON) , that’s the NF-14D which is a different plane. And you won’t find what they changed to the planes to do those tests (possibly still classified material).
Example, they modified a F/A-18F to test AIM-174B … then after the tests they modified the fleet.
It didn’t mean because they put an AIM-174B on a F/A-18F to run the tests suddenly all the fleet could use it. It took months , if not years …and possibly it did tests before we see the picture in the press.
They could have scrap it and not release pictures even or data or anything. That’s their job there, test things… not take selfies "the me sporting 174Bs in ma nu 18 , i bought “box’ 30mil” , “today we HARPAWNing schooners in our 14Ds” .
People don’t get that the NFs are practically experimental planes. And they may have a lot of anecdotal modifications on them.
When/if they return them to frontline units they remove everything (or near everything) they may had in test units. They become the standard version again.
F-14 D R was suggested here because Gaijin already put the new build version at the premium, and most F-14 A that used to do the ordinance weight test was also the first batch to install F-14 D avionics as testing vehicles.
None the less they are going to put the same one on the tech tree anyway. If you hate to see a people can just get an identical plane for free after other already spend 80 dollars on a pack, you should support this suggestion, because this suggestion at least suggest Gaijin put a different version of F-14D to the tech tree for free.
Ah, so now I’m a hater of poor people? Lol
I see how the warthunder community endeavors to maintain its stereotypes steong for all these years.
Some of you guys should definelty grow a beard or touch some grass instead of getting offended by being disagreed upon a virtual (badly made) copy of an airplane you probably never even came close to in real life
That’s exactly my point. Some people here think that if they scream loud enough gaijin will actually listen. Its probably naivety, but anyone with more than a couple years of aciivity in this forum knows very well they will only move themselves wih peoper, overwhelming, evidence. Not just “muh i want x weapon system on ma plane”
It is your word against your word here. You are unhappy because Gaijin didn’t make a meaningfully different version of the TT F-14D. Then why are you unhappy with other players suggesting an F-14D with meaningfully different to the Premium version? This
I honestly advice you to reread all i wrote, cos the meaning cleary went over your head.
Then why are you angry. I can not see why you don’t want the F-14D(R) to have the planned D03 loadout. It was supported by tons of first-hand sources. It is a planned upgrade that didn’t go through.
