Nah, I fully aware that F-14s can shoot 7P Block II in a way functionally identical to 7MH. For 7P Block I, it is not mentioned in the 2004 documents.
I’m saying Block 1 retrofit the AIM-7M Guidance an Control Sections and the block 2 retrofits aim7mh each variant performing better than last in eccm capability/low altitude performance both missiles share lofting capability iirc from the aim7mh since it had a enhanced trajectory logic specifically an automated Loft Mode witch is what I think that statement is trying say about the aim7p especially since it says The functionality in the weapon is identical between the AIM-7MH build and AIM-7p meaning it should also retains upgrades/capabilities of the aim7p. And note that it never says it can’t do anything either or even imply it or even say it would need upgrades to be able to use the full capability of the aim7p like some aim120 document do about the f14D needing a (iirc) software update
So if it is talking about the aim7p-2 it confirms that it can use the full capability of the aim7p-2
As long as any document proposing F-14D implementing AIM-7P2 datalink is found.
hasn’t it been proven for a f14 to shoot a aim120 in stt/tws in different types of scenarios wouldn’t that require The same type of DL as a aim7p2?
Egyptian F16s uses AIM 7P. You maybe right.
Interesting. Do you have sources that I can look up and read later?
Just the google search result now. I just discovered that when I tried to disproven this
by showing that if this is the case, there will be example where there will be example of other AIM-120 platform like F-16 and F-15 able using AIM-7P. Egyptian F16s using AIM 7P is the result come out from the google search.
They cant make a second F-14D premium pack, right?
Oh ye of little faith

Idk about the Egyptian f16 platform but I was more thinking about the F/a-18C early w/ apg65/ayq9(v) sms ( I assume it has the ayq9(v)) I don’t understand how gajin gave it aim7p-2 but not to the f14D because what does that aircraft have that the f14D is missing for aim7P-2
It would be fun to have F16 that can only shoot AIM-7P2, but Egyptian F16 was an Dead End:
The EAF wishes to procure a unique version of the F-16 Block 50/52 that will be capable of firing the medium-range AIM-7 Sparrow radar-guided missiles that are currently in the EAF inventory.
…
In order for the new aircraft to fire AIM-7 Sparrow as requested, a modification of the avionics package is required.
(EGYPT: COUNTRY TEAM ASSESSMENT FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) F-16 BLOCK 50/52 AIRCRAFT TO SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT OF EGYPT NATIONAL DEFENSE MISSION (UNCLASSIFIED), Wiki Leak)
THIS. IS. NOT. DRILL.
We are getting a researchable F-14D in the next update. VICTORY!
While it’s great to see it getting added, I won’t be content until we get genuine upgrades. Without AIM-7Ps across the board or the Mk 60 motor for the AIM-54, it’s just not going to be viable at its BR. Hopefully, the community stays vocal so we actually get a proper version of it.
Of course, it was just a major battle we won.
However, I recommend lowering expectations regarding the AIM-120s and AIM-7P Block II for the F-14D. Instead, we should advocate for AIM-7M H-Build, AIM-7P Block I, and another AIM-54 with a different motor.
We can try to argue for AIM-95, AIM-7R, and perhaps ACIMD, but they all warrant as standalone suggestions. Sadly, these weapons were not directly integrated on the F-14D.
Hope both F-14D will get a 7P. This is the last thing that are the real weapon that it can carry. (I’m ok with no AMRAAM).
