Give The J-8F PL-11 (Aspide)

Nowhere have I so far seen anyone claim that the PL-8 to have been used on the extra two pylons that gaijin have implemented it on in game. The idea of the J-8F holding and using 6x PL-8s is purely fictional, and purely by the design of Gaijin. The loadout of holding Two extra PL-8s is as fictional as the loadout of holding two PL-11s. Pylons are what connect the missile to the plane, and are just as important as the missiles themselves, they are not always interchangeable and most certainly not in this case.

How about give j8f pl8a with irccm so we arent totally f*cked when the patch drops and we’re facing the swarm of f15 and su27s

You shouldn’t be using the J-8F in that scenario anyway, you should be using the J-11. It’s not like there is no upgrade in the Chinese tree, you aren’t stuck with the J-8F until it gets ARHs

@TPS_Hydra There’s a possibility that might be Shenyang J-8D & J-8H and Chengdu J-10A armed SARH BVR PL-11, J-8F carry medium-range ARH BVRAAM PL-12 only

I expect gaijin add all-aspect infrared Air-to-Air Missile 35G or 40G replacement PL-5B on J-8F in this year or Q1 2024

And the Gripen using Skyflashes was never a thing

Any form of balancing will help including the PL-8B but from my understanding the PL-8A is just the PL-8 but with support for HMS (the PL-8B is the one with IRCCM).

Yet, no one has come forward with documents saying they can’t be equipped to those pylons.

Because it’s common knowledge that they can’t be. Gaijin even said in their own words that it was their decision to add this loadout, they introduced it, its not something that could be done in real life. If you want actual documentation, one of the documents used to deny the PL-11 on the J-8F makes note of all the improvements over the J-8II and additions, it is never mentioned nor hinted to that the J-8F gained the sudden ability to use more than 4 IR missiles. The additional weapon pylons are described as a difference in appearance even, alongside the mention that 2 of the overall 7 hardpoints had been altered on the aircraft to carry anti-ship missiles. There is no mention that the 6x PL-8 missile option was a possibility and if there is nothing to say it can, it should not be assumed that it can because there is nothing to say that it can’t.

Yes. And as with the AIM-9M, top-of-the-line weapons were handed out to the top BR fighters, and the long-awaited J-8F era was taken over by other fighters.
The concerns of the Chinese players at the time came true. It was very foolish.RIP J-8F

It’s just stupidity and there is no other way to put it, they add a J-11A with 2% of the SU-27SMs capabilities, they model the MAWS but don’t add it in-game, they refuse the addition of the PL-11 to the J-8F but add the fictional AIM-7 to the F-16 ADF (Italy) and don’t model the spall liners for Top Tier ZTZ tanks.

Nothing makes sense, and i bet j8f will hit 12.3 without irccm fox2’s. With j11a, like most chinese vehicles im sure it will be missing a ton of features, especially with air to ground ordinance.
