That would need a quotation anyway. Theres a high chance that Iran managed it by itself and even if Russia helped with maintenance it definitely wasnt a direct support.
Another argument could be made about USSR techtree being USSR and not Russia so despite Iran-Russia relations today it doesnt reflect the relations between Iran and USSR.
The Russian tree already has multiple foreign versions of its own vehicles as events or premiums. The US is not getting a sub tree here, just a foreign version of its own aircraft. This is in the exact same fashion as the following all already in the Russian tree:
It’s almost like making something that’s already bad even more horrible. Either way I know this will backfire and the same people praising this will complain once they start giving the ussr similar stuff
If you read one of my comments above, a good amount of Tomcat pilots in Iran either defected to the west, or were executed by the IRI after the revolution. The roughly 40% of pilots who stuck around (such as Jalil Zandi) did it under the flag of the IRIAF.
This is why Gaijin SHOULD HAVE done a dual release. Rank VII premium for US as the IIAF F-14, and Rank VIII event vehicle for USSR as the IRIAF F-14. Double the money, less complaints.
Instead they’re bastardizing the history by putting it in the US tree.
Much as I would rather see an independent India tree, this is the clearest explanation yet of the current policy regarding Australian, Canadian, and Indian vehicles.
At risk of continuing off topic, is there a similar official policy on the placement of New Zealand vehicles?
Personally big fan of the Iranian F-14, while there may be argument over the details of armament I think it can only reasonably fit in the US tree as the nation of manufacture while there is no suitable Middle Eastern nation ingame.
I’m as lazy as the guy who decided to respond in Russian. Deal with it, because I literally don’t care.
Everything else you said I agree with. Russian made Indian gear? Well no one has an Indian sub tree. So give it to who made it. The same reason Germany got the 2a4can. This stuff is so easy to get right.
Don’t you think that this is a bit unfair. You give the Britain equipment from other countries, even if it was not in the british arsenal. But you do not give the USSR equipment of Soviet origin from India. Arguing that India is a subtree of Britain. So make India not a subtree of Britain, but a free country like Canada. Nothing prevents you from doing this.
I’m sorry, but I also recall GJN claiming/implying this a few years ago: If a nation didn’t use X missile on a Y plane during it’s service, it would not get access to said missle on game. When did that change? That’s my last question, thanks for the replies!
