Get the F-106A “Six Shooter” in the Sky Guard Event!

Here’s the SAC if that helps

(Pre-Six Shooter so doesn’t have the M61 listed but flight performance should be the same I’ll try to find the '72 edition in a bit)

Here’s a full manual in the meantime:

Interesting how the drop tanks are only rated for M0.95, I wonder if this will be modeled

Yeah that’s weird. Probably to motivate you to GE the last stage lol

nah it’s impossible, plus your only hope is your enemy get within the immense splash damage of the Genie (and even if they not changing course early on), and if there’s a stupid one launches it while his teammate is dogfighting said enemy, nasty TK

FINALLY! This will be an event I will actually grind. Thank you Gaijin!

Thanks, will do! Im hoping that the phong kong will finally be mine took eons to get everything else. 227 mil sl is no joke it surely will drop…

This looks like a misunderstanding.

My question was primarily aimed if gaijin is able and willing to simulate the highly advanced (for its time) fire control system:

So it is clearly not a dogfight missile - just an unguided rocket for air targets.

The nuclear warhead is just a very nice add-on…

Have a good one!

Edit:

Agree in general - i see a possible swap solution as sole possibility - but i am not sure if gaijin would accept the technical challenge (ground radar & control) to implement this feature - and obviously at the BR range there is a lack of bombers flying high and straight 😎

Have a good one!

AWESOME!

Lowercase so post is accepted.

On the other hand:

Dick Stultz, LtCol, USAF (Ret) writes in an email:
An F-106 Pilot who fired simulated AIR2A in William Tell Competition without Operational MA-1, “The MA-1 NEVER had full control of the aircraft, a capability so many publications erroneously extol. The MA-1, using its data link target information or command information, would provide directives for altitude, airspeed, xyz coordinates and command directions, which would be flown by the autopilot, however, the MA-1 NEVER regulated the throttle at any time, for forward and aft movement, thus the MA-1 could never really fully control the airplane except to provide requested directions that required coupling and thrust selection by the pilot. The pilot HAD to take it off, climb, descend, and land the aircraft, every time!” The F-106 proved its ultimate performance capabilities in providing aggressor “enemy” delta-wing familiarization training to the Navy’s best pilots during the time they were implementing TOP GUN. The Navy jocks learned valuable lessons that the Delta winged 106 was almost unconquerable in the dogfight arena, with guns in the air-to-air environment, which you read so little about in the Navy publications. Wing loading of 43 lbs/sq ft and a .8 -1 TWT put it in a class of its own against the A4s, F-104s, F4B,C,D, F-105, F-100, F8 fighters of its time…not to mention the many many '14s and '15s that blew engines in attempting to fight when it took them above 40,000 feet, to a guns-only environment. Good thing they finally fixed those great fighters to handle the altitudes the 106s formerly ruled. (link)

A Genie, yeah, if it had 100% lethality at a 300m radius, that means a “badly damaged, possibly dead” sphere of around 2 km diameter (the 100% lethal range for unprotected humans from a 1.5 kt airburst). Interesting it was just on an airburst time-fuze, that would be a doable mechanic in game if you could put up with the 2km balls of death on the regular.

will there be a tt varient of the f106 at any point?

So, 9.7-10.0 because no flares, but good performance and ok missiles?

Rank VI, so 8.7-10.3 for sure anyway.

Pathetic. This could be in the tech tree following the introduction of AIM-26B in the game.

Gaijin shafting vehicles for $$$$$

dont think 6 shooter 106 even had AIM-26B

but I do agree, this shouldve been TT

best bet might be 10.0? plus the swiss mirage is like 10.3 and that itself has flares

9.7 may also possible though we’ll just wait and see

It didn’t, it had AIM-4F and AIM-4G. AIM-26 was significantly larger.

Good video here btw: https://youtu.be/T-8gN_1cHVY

Missiles probably worse than ok:

AIM-4 Missiles Seriously Flawed according to LtCol (Ret) Mark B Foxwell, Weapons Instructor & Commander USAF Interceptor Weapons School who comments:
“The AIM-4 missles that the Six carried were the weak point of the whole airplane. As a 9-year Weapons Instructor and eventual Commander of the USAF Interceptor Weapons School (IWS), I am here to tell you that the AIM-4 series of missiles were seriously flawed. They had NO PROXIMITY fuse and had to actually hit their targets and penetrate so that their fuse in the leading edge of their guidance fins would detonate the explosive charge. Both the IR (AIM-4G) and the radar (AIM-4F) versions were highly susceptible to both radar and IR countermeasures. Luckily we also had the UNSTOPPABLE AIR-2A Genie NUCLEAR rocket. I think that weapon on the F-106 was a big reason we WON the Cold War.” (link)

Good to see that the USAF copes for the F-106 as hard as it’s regular fanboys. Like, it’s a good plane, but honestly it really did not play a major part in the cold war.
