One more thing on Eastern Wildcats — I don’t think the FM-1 should be added. From memory, it was just an F4F-4 with four guns. If anything else, it wasn’t much different. The Atlantic skin option for the F4F-4 serves this purpose well enough.
The FM-2 is quite literally the “Wilder Wildcat” and is a great disappointment for not being in the game at the moment. Though, by the time it finally gets added (if ever) I probably won’t be playing anymore! Lol.
Fun fact, the first pilot to score the first jet vs. jet kill was U.S. Navy Commander William T. Amen on 9 November 1950 in an F9F Panther. Five years earlier as a Lieutenant, he led a fighter sweep to Chichi Jima on 19 February 1945 at the beginning of the Iwo Jima invasion campaign. He was flying FM-2 Wildcats with VC-82 off the USS Anzio (CVE-57).

At last, I have reorganized and updated the FM-2’s specs, including data on engine ratings. Added supplemental data & diagrams. The specs are much more elaborate and precise now.
Well said. I am in 100% agreement with you. Hope it comes to War Thunder sooner.

Oh yes please, a +1 from me!

Heck yeah! More wildcats are definitely appreciated. Would also love to see the XF4F-8 prototype as its own aircraft, perhaps even a premium counterpart to this, someday ingame as well! Big +1 from me!

I’ll (almost) always support the most-produced model of a vehicle family already in-game, +1

Updated FM-2 Wildcat suggestion format and specifications.
Finally got a chance to revisit this suggestion, and I’ve acquired some extra information I recently found in a book!
Good news: I discovered that the FM-2 Wildcat was capable of carrying 2 x 500 lb bombs through a field modification.
Also, the FM-2 was tested with an experimental JATO (Jet-Assisted Take-Off) unit. I can suggest this as a separate suggestion if the FM-2 gets added to the game but does not include the experimental JATO.
Here are images:

And lastly…
Who else wants to fly the FM-2 Wildcat in bright yellow camouflage? 😉

Absolutely would love to see a new wildcat/ Wildhellcat (because the engine) in the game instead of the billionth supersonic freaking jet(I wanted to used to f word but don’t know if I can cuss on these forums)
The game needs more interesting vehicles and needs more cools and obscure vehicles. The game needs to be like a game ffs not like a damn war simulator. Make it fun . Please for the love of god make this game fun again and not grindy and lazy.
There are a tonne of vehicles that are in the files and already passed to devs that should be in the game . Like for instance the A4M or A-4AR . Good lord a A-4AR would be fun especially with the latest mods it had before it got retired. Especially with 9L’s and skippers or shrikes.

Please, I would love my American turnfighter. Right now it has a better power to weight ratio than majority of american fighters.

+1, Naval aviation is always good; although it would be somewhat funny to see a wildcat at a higher BR than the baseline F6F-5 (maybe, low tiers need some more breathing room…)
I need it. I want a good reason to fly a Wildcat.
From what it seems like Gaijin puts in to weighting BR’s, the fact it only has 4x and not 6x .50 cal MG’s, regardless of a better engine, it likely ends up at 3.0 (in Arcade BR) same as the P-51A, F4F-4, and F6F-5.
Why considering it’s a side upgrade more or less (cause it could operate better from the CVE’s) I’d actually like to see it as an Event/BP vehicle seeing as that A: means that it can count for grinding events, and B: opens up the ability to put it at Rank 3 (being that bit more advanced) and meaning it can do events and battle pass challenges, especially cause US got kinda hosed when they moved stuff and foldered it with the Hellcat going down to Rank 2.

I don’t think so. It could easily go 3.3-3.7 given its got significantly better vertical handling performance and better acceleration than the previous versions. Because it’s usage goes all the way through to 1945 it could have access to the better 50. Cal belts, better octane fuel, drop tanks, napalm - it carries a larger and more sophisticated CAS payload.
This thing would be an awesome dog fighter and ground supporter.

FM-2’s at last check have the same carry ability as FM-1’s and general Wildcats - 6x rockets and a couple of 250lb bombs, cause they were meant for the CVE’s who’s main focus was anti-submarine and CAP, with some focus on ground support but that was still more the fleet carriers thing. It was more or less a pure-bred fighter they added a little ground attack to.
Your basically looking at a slightly heavier F4F-3, with a slightly more powerful engine (the power gap isn’t that big, and things like the P-51A have more powerful engines than it), that can actually carry a couple of 250lb bombs or 6 rockets. Better belt options like the API-T that US starts seeing closer to 4.0 even though other trees have it or belts like it sooner - sure, but if the F6F and F4U’s are at 3.0 - with more powerful engines, in cases higher payloads, more guns, and a good 1-200 km/h on them in speed, yeah, no, it’s not going to 3.3 or 3.7 unless Gaijin wants it so out-classed no one plays it.

hasnt changed one bit, im just hoping that maybe they’d revamp some old prop planes models atp, ive never been a fan of jets and im so sick of every update being nothing but jet focused
just make sure to add pretty skins that you can get for kills and im down +1
You’re way over-simplifying the power difference. It’s got a lot more to do with the power curve and power output at relative altitudes than max power between varients.
