GBU-53/B Stormbreakers for the American F-16C Discussion

I see that both of you failed to read the second line

Since both of you either did not read it or failed to understand it let me lay it out real quick.

The JAGM-MR’s Tri mode seeker sports mmW, SALH and IR guidance, the brimstone 1 is full mmW, only one seeker has IR guidance, its still a missile with a mmW seeker, however, its not being used.

The dude is trying to say that the stormbreaker, who also sports a multi-mode seeker should be denied on the basis that it just has a mmW seeker present, even though the bomb would not be using it in game, it would be using it’s IR seeker, just like the JAGM-MR we are getting is.

So what’s your issue with implementing the GBU-53 again?

I don’t have one, I’m mocking someone who does as I find their reason fundamentally flawed.

GBU-53 can work if it’s implemented as a IR+IOG+GNSS weapon, not the whole shebang with millimetre wave radar guidance (if Brimstone’s implementation wasn’t a clear example…). Fair compromise, imo. Now hurry up and write up the suggestion for this weapon that I’m pretty sure only the F-15E will receive in the USA tech tree.

It has an IR seeker as well, they can just do a JAGM-MR thing again

This should not factor into whether a nation gets certain weaponry. Arbitrary lines of exclusivity only serve to divide the playerbase. If there is an equivalent for any nation, they should receive it. The issue that often comes up is what counts as an equivalent and what does not.

The GBU-53/B is literally just the US’s equivalent to SPICE-250s, which is why I’m asking for it. I highly doubt either will be better than the other since they’ll both have extremely similar tech and extremely similar launch requirements/conditions. They are both IIR glide bombs that can be carried in racks of 4.
