Jas 39c in the Swedish tree is missing 8 GBU 39s. Doesn’t really make sense to limit it when they are not target tracking FnF munitions. Gripen would have to give up Rb 99s and countermeasures to take these bombs on these pylons so it is also dubious on a balance standpoint.
With their track record of trying to murder the Gripen’s capabilities in any way possible, I was inclined to put this up as soon as I saw the issue. If they aren’t going to improve/fix the agility (or tone down everything else that’s overperforming excessively), then the next best thing is a half useful payload.
Not that i can see, the closest i can find is a report for missing GBU-39 and GBU-49 that got marked as duplicate but the link goes to a report on only the GBU-39 so i’m unsure.
Theoretically, Gripen can carry Brimstone. But I don’t think Brimstone was used in Swedish service.
Though who knows if that actually matters given the SAAF Gripen is made up almost entirely of fictional ordnance. AGM 65G was added to Gripen as a balancing thing too. So we could argue Brimstone would help balance the ordnance count compared to other nations.
