Game crashing when spawning in (Ubuntu)

Every time I try clicking spawn button, the game crashes and says that an exception has occurred. I’m playing through Steam. I tried deleting cache and running file integrity checks.

Any error messages?

There are two windows: a regular one saying WT crashed and offering to restart and send report and another one saying that an exception has occurred.

I think I have a similar problem to yours though I’m using Fedora KDE. Might be a Linux-wide problem.

Tried windowed mode, everything runs fine. After switching back to fullscreen the game didn’t crash on spawn, but about 15 seconds later it started freezing all the time.

Hello @nikitabr0_psn, @shacortes-psn,

Could you please both post your system information from the inxi -F command?

I’m playing on the external monitor (1440p) if that helps.

@nikitabr0_psn,

Thank you, I see you have an Intel Arc iGPU which is known to have issues with WT, Could you please install the latest version of Mesa (25.1.0) from this PPA and see if that resolves the crashing?

It’s really bad habit to add external PPA’s. They will break your system and lead to package conflicts at some point. Please be aware of what you’re doing to your system

Installed it, but tit didn’t change anything. Freezes happen only in the first 15-25 seconds of the match, so it’s still playable.

Right, The freeze at the beginning of each match is a known issue:

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/Gzuh9IYe7yLp

Are you still getting the crashing you mentioned in your first post?

Thank You!

It crashed two times more.
The first time with Vulkan saying the GPU crashed and the second time the game detected a freeze and quit. Also I had some graphical artifacts around the grass, when it got bent by my tank and around the trees, when looking at them from ~1.5km flying with a heli (in GRB), but rebooting (or lowering my graphics a little) helped with these.

After that the experience was really smooth (apart from the freezes at the start of the match, but they’re bearable).

Right, In that case, As your using a Intel Arc GPU these crashes and graphical artifacts could be driver issues rather than specifically a issue with WT. So could you please submit a report for both the crashing and graphical artifacts to the Mesa Devs?

Alright, thank!

Though I haven’t experienced any more crashes and the freezes either didn’t occur at all or were quite short.

Right, Well thats good to hear then if the crashes have stopped. :)
