FV721 Fox: An Opportunistic Predator

So what you are saying is its perfect for 8.7.

Id honestly say put it at 5.0 and lets have fun with it before they bump it back up to 7.0

Make the APDS a rank 1 Modification like on the warrior, not a rank 4 Modification, i do not want to have 57mm pen until i get to unlocking the top mods

correct me if i’m wrong but didn’t fox have a 30mm rarden cannon and secondary was co-axial 7.62mm l37a2 machine gun with jag j.60 no 1 mk 100b petrol engine ?

It has the L27A1 Rarden, and it has the MG, not sure about the engine, if your saying it didn thave hte 30mm and only had the 7.62, thats the Ferret

needs a full sap belt, he is useless.

no it had rarden and co-axial as i seen it in Monmouth museum

I better prefer if exist a Kit which include only the tanks/planes without the premium account for x days and without an additional money with lower price of course . I would buy that. Premium days not worth for me (I wouldn’t be able to use it anyway thanks to free time ,it would just be a waste.) and money also not needed.

Reviving this thread as its being nerfed again to 8.0

Some of them in service over there were fitted with the electronic turret traverse.

if gaijin expects fox to be competitive at xm800T and clovis BR we should get a faster traverse back otherwise the fox will genuinely be useless for 80% of players. Give us full export spec for it to be worthwhile, Ill happily assist in the changes with user manuals, repair handbooks and brochures

I’d very much rather have a British Army spec Fox than lose one of our only recently-gained domestic light tanks. Feel free to suggest the export version as a Premium.

With luck, the eventual RARDEN nerf will bring it and Scimitar down to 7.3-7.7

gaijin using a crappily done report to nerf the thing just to sell how it should have stayed would be extremely scummy. Seeing as we didn’t never used one in combat and it mostly stayed as a test vehicle its not bad to have a full trim one.

Didnt u find something that said rarden fires too slow. We know the gun pen is pretty on point so I cant see there being any actual nerfs unless they throw realism away fully

There is footage and other documents showing that RARDEN can fire up to 80-100 rpm, but Gaijin is using the Infantry training handbook as their primary source and that states 80 rpm.

RARDEN is one of the only remaining weapons in game which does not use the penetration formula, which means it has very high penetration up to 1000m and then a huge drop-off, while contemporary 30mm APDS will have lower initial pen but lose significantly less over distance.

The turret traverse was an educated guess but was below the standard of proof usually required. If we ever get a real source then it can be corrected, but for now it’s much more realistic than 60°/s was.

how much lower would it be? because if its much lower than the 110mm it will be very unfortunate

Depends on the calibre of the APDS sub-projectile, which seems to be around 20mm. That would give a 10m penetration of around 105mm using the Demarre Formula.

Bear in mind that this is a very simplistic method of calculating penetration which does not take into account a lot of factors.

105mm @ 10m for drastic range improvements would be very nice I will say. Would make long range scouting and taking on light afvs much more doable.

Is angle better or would it be kept the same?

I’m not sure how effect against angled targets is calculated, I would have to perform a comparison but it would probably scale similarly to other 30mm APDS.

may be pretty good, but considering the fox is going up in BR despite the turret fiasco I cant see it going back down to 7.7 from a slightly lower flat pen.

After playing a LOT of fox pre gimp and after id honestly put it to 7.3 nowadays considering what light tanks sit at 8.0-8.7. Clovis, XM800T, BMP2, USH 405 and basically everything else being stabilised.

It will be very good at 7.3 due to how abysmal 6.7 german teams are however its outclassed very quickly. forcing it to always be at overall disadvantage because British players broke the game through skill supremacy over a year ago isn’t a reason to make the vehicle unviable
