Facts
It shows 1.5" and the bottom plate is not part of the armor.
Preach
…….okay, the denial in these comments is getting a little crazy. You’re looking at this photo claiming it doesn’t say 2”?(disregard this comment)
It’s 1.5" on photo…
So the bottom layer is only foam or something? As mig has suggested? Which model Abrams is this?
@MiG_23M
Bottom thing is for drivers hatch holding
Its 3.81 centimetres mate
As fantom stated. The actual “armor” even in the photo is 1.5"… The bottom plate seen is the handle for ease of entry and such.
Above which is the “step” for the hatch seal which is where the armor starts. It is 1.5"
I’m in America- I speak AmErIcAn(joke). We use standard.
Aww, okay I see. This has never changed? It’s still 1.5” on the newest variant?
Yes that’s what we have been telling you
Telling me and providing evidence are very different. The first photo has no context. Was the photo fantom provided from a sep v2?
Ok well im not so i dont
Sepv2 isn’t the latest version, and no his is from a SEPV3 because it has the thermal reducing CARC paint.
That means we will never see an improvement to the upper front plate thickness on any M1A2 variant.
Thanks for the correction. You have won.
Btw- I referenced sep v2 because it’s the newest model in game.
3.8cm is 38mm which is 1.5 inches in moon landing units
plus it is 1.5 inches thick i dont think it changed in any variant
the lower hull however lol
burgers and fries, and football fields are my favorite metaphors for customary - never heard moon landing units before lol
Considering the UFP is pretty much an autobounce for APFSDS barring any shenanigans involving shooting from elevated positions I’m not even sure why that’s the hill chosen to die on.
I doubt it’d further degrade the penetration on a bounce to improve resistance versus things like DM53.
