HISTORY
The car type was developed in 1942 and from 1943 to 1945 a total of 8,523 units of this car type were produced which were originally developed as a Panserjager “tank destroyer”. Due to the development of bonnets, the main fender was insufficient before the car was completed. The car type was therefore instead used by American and British armies for armored reconnaissance and fire support during the sixth part of the Second World War. After the war, it has been used by a number of countries in addition to the United States

The first vehicles came to Norway in May 1945 with the American forces. With the arms aid in the 50s, we also received a good number of wagons from the USA. In total, the Army’s Material Management states that a number of around 40 wagons in Norway. The wagons were used as reconnaissance vehicles in the reconnaissance squadron. We also used 3 of these wagons in the German Brigade. The wagons were in use until about 1966, after which some were sold at auction while others ended up as targets on shooting ranges
