Hmmm…
The AGM65A is also listed as having almost 15x zoom.
And as i understand it the only real change between A and B IRL was the better optics and zoom levels.
So both of them might be listed incorrectly in the sheet.
The B variant does have REALLY big zoom in the game though
Is there any possibility of this update containing more top tier jets? Is it possible for nations to recive upgraded versions of vehicles without them really being announced? Because I feel like the trailer just confirmed that we get the f18 in the december update and that we german mains just need to hold on a bit longer until top tier air rb gets enjoyable for us again.
Also please let me know if this quesiton even belongs here, im not that familiar with the posting rules jet.
IIRC that was the upgrade; halving the FOV, extend the zoom levels and increasing the resolution of the screen. You might remember the 3x as being 3x the zoom of the A variant?
If you look at the radar screen when those two are detected (early and far away) they show up as different sizes on the radar hud.
I’m not sure here but i think the detection of a smaller target at range gets less accurate data (range, speed, altitude, etc) and i also think that it’s harder to lock smaller targets at range (for when you want to fire ARH missiles).
It might also be that currently it’s not really modeled for dealing with radar targets at those ranges as we do not have anything in game that can be effectively used at those ranges (yet).
I just hope that Gaijin polishes and updates the radar mechanics in game before the addition of more advanced stealth functions and longer range ARH missiles.
My issue behind my statements is that Tu-4/B-29 should show up on PD mode well over 120km away on all modern aircraft.
It’s why it’s used as my test every few major updates.
I think I’ll test it again this dev server to see how many changes occurred.
It’s why I say RCS isn’t really in-game; if the radars don’t see at correct ranges, then RCS pretty much doesn’t exist.
I made a chart for this some time ago, AGM-65B is ~30x and A is ~15x. The guided weapon spreadsheet is really quite weird with the magnification values, as those are not exactly the same as how it’s calculated/shown in game. These values here match the in-game values (as can be verified through X-ray on some aircraft, and I guess ground vehicles).
On first glance the magnification values seem to be the same in your image as in the spreadsheet i linked previously. but i might be missing something.
