Fair Play: November 2024

i guess it would be hard to code and would make dropping big bombs carelessly too easy. on the other hand i can count the times my team listened to warnings where not to push because theres a 12000 pd chonker heading straight there that is extremely unfriendly to anything with my nose. it was maybe three times. one nose two holes

oh and i guess the same bozos that intentionally teamkill would just do it then to explode themselves in the most hilarious way still leaving the team at a disadvantage. but there would be ways around this with just disabling their vehilce hitbox and removing them from the game+ crewlock

Edit added a thought

Do me a favour and use the tactical mode of the replay function. You will see that your lock isn’t a laser pointer, but a cone (like radars actually work). The JAS39 was not only highly likely inside the radar illumination cone, but also the closer target, and therefore the better return and a priority.

I wouldn’t be suprised that when the JAS39 left your illumination cone, the missile just went pitbull and found the JAS39 with its own radar.

I’d be okay with this.

This prevents dumb furball spraying and idiotic flying, doesn’t lead to bans and works elegantly.

Problem with that thought is that they did not “purposefully implement a mechanic that can get you banned.” They went for a more realistic game environment and had to consider that not everyone is going to “play nice”, so . . they made rules and a system to regulate such things because . . . guess what, not everyone plays nice. I agree, I don’t care to get team killed and have not team killed anyone intentionally . . it’s just annoying and benefits no one. BUT . . . we still have to have something in place, because people just won’t “act right”.
The issues with the modern/guided weaponry is problematic, and as they continue to add more and more of those types of weapons to the game . . . more and more problems are going to arise . . . just the way it is.
Hopefully they can find some reasonable way to deal with it in the higher tiers, otherwise . . . could just get worse . . . we’ll see I guess

also this thing that happens sometimes:

guy 1: TKs guy 2’s plane as hes taking off
guy 2: crashes into the ground and explodes
guy 2: gets TK credit over the 6 other guys that died when his plane exploded
guy 1: dies to said explosion

if we’re talking ground, you can rangefind to quickly identify allies.

elegantly until you have someone dive through what you were shooting at… Your want for a solution to your issue makes you not look at the wider scenario.

Furthermore, everyone in here trying to peddle solutions and avoiding the point that this is a thread about banning said bad players are almost trying to make excuses for them.

i know that but that takes like 5 seconds, works very unreliably and only up to a certain distance? or am i wrong about how that feature works? long range that never worked for me. also not the tool to use when theres a sherman pushing around a corner on one of the countless city mazes. would be hilarious though. two shermans meet. bot stare at each other from 10 m to identify friend/foe. then shoot.

reminds me how awesome it is that explanations for that are so easy to find for ppl that are new to the game and decide to hop into sim battles at lvl 10

I honestly feel bad for the GMs right now.

Love the call though to take action on it. Too many of runway or “you took my base” situations in air battles.

Ok but why can’t you access the game at all when you get banned ? I understand banning like online playing if you get banned but at least let me log into the game to either claim daily reward or even test drive . Not even being able to go to home screen to look at your acc when you’ve spent ungodly amounts of money on it ( around 400 EUR for me) . I understand not being able to play your game mode or even custom battles and online games in general but we should be able to at least access the game itself

That doesn’t make any sense. Why is it that in Ground RB I cannot damage my own team mates but in Air RB I can? It’s an arbitrary system. If they are going to implement it anywhere “for realism,” sim seems like the most obvious place, but sim is also the place where it’s most understandable that people would accidentally team kill.

Having the mechanic in the game was just a bad decision.

I was not banned in the new November: Fair Play ban wave, but I am outraged to read that you have banned many people illegally. (1 example: My Squadronmate got a ban, and he killed only 1 teammate accidentally)
Yesterday I shoot down my 2 teammates twice with the aim 120 missiles. I locked the enemy with my radar but the missile still hit my teammate. I didn’t get banned, but I think it will happen again by accident in the future. So what happens, you ban me for 2 weeks too? Fix the game first, then act. If i play 6 hours/day and i get 1-2 kills accidentally by this, i get ban? I think its unfair…

It should work fairly okay from what I remember? Haven’t played sim in a long time, and not much either. I’m not against making things easier without the stupid captured and copy pasted stuff, though.

I guess in the Sherman situation you could track them when only one of their tracks shows and then rangefind them, but i know how stupid that sounds, haha.

tbf I doubt a newbie would know how to play sim or even stumble upon it

I can’t think of a single game that lets you still access your account when you get banned, bc the entire account just gets locked, no matter if its F2P but monetized or paid upfront. but I’m open to be enlightened on that.

That part I cannot say, the team killing Rules and system were put in place well before tanks even entered the game. We used to have friendly fire active in all modes, but because of how players “behaved” they have slowly been removing it all over . . . prolly just a matter of time before you won’t be able to even fire your weapons if a teammate is in the way . . . I dunno . . but again, with the missile slingin’ . . . different animal . . . more complicated.

sounds like your squadmate lied to you and/or teamkilled more when you weren’t around. and these bans are from a longer time period, not from teamkilling once or twice in one match recently.

My other thought is to

either disable TKing for the first 2 minutes of the match (enough time to climb and meet the enemy at most BRs, at least until 10.3) - this prevents airfield teamkilling and airspawn teamkilling

or

Disable teamkills unless an enemy plane was within 5 km of the victim. (Only in ARB, keep as is in air sim but please split taiwan and china because redfor p38s and b25js are my nightmare)

This prevents griefing outright while still punishing careless flying.

if you or anyone is getting banned for that then its not a “one of occurrence” would not be surprised if gaijin not only looks at “how many tks” but also the frequency, the weapon used and or if the player has been prior sanctioned.

doesnt work at all from a certain range, at least doesnt show the identify friend/foe bar going up only the rangefinder. and 5 seconds is still way more time than u have in a lot of situations. especially if the guy is in a captured vehicle moving his turret towards you. he knows what nation your tank is easily. you dont. funny how this advantage goes to tons of premium vehicles but eh nevermind thats just a coincidence.

also tons of nebies play sim and why not? its fun, its different and more challenging. just a couple of days ago i had to tk i guy in a duster spamming at an ally but doing nothing. after repeatedly telling him to stop he did for a couple of seconds then continued while the ally drove in front of him → he died through unexplicably unfortunate and totally mysterious circumstances which will better not be explained here in detail. i rather have an ally who doesnt do that alive in my team than this guy and if i get banned for that so be it

Edit: checking his statcard he was lvl 10. which doesnt matter but maybe answers your question
