If something like the F-4B ends up coming, along with other Phantoms, I could see the TT being re-arranged liked this:
F-4E (staying named as F-4E) foldered with new F-4E-58-MC (F-4E Late)
F-4B (shoehorn) after F-8E
F-4S (late) added in-between F-14A and F-4J, F-14A gets AIM-9L and is moved to 12.0, F-14B is foldered with F-14A (since it wouldn’t be a major improvement anymore)
F-4D and F-4N added as either event, premium, or squadron vehicles
This would add a bit more substance to the tree, though with a lot of stuff foldered that might not be too bad.

My personal opinion another F-4 Phantom II in rank VII ~ VIII
- F-4E Late or F-4E (1984) would be 11.7 or 12.0 BR (Air AB, Air RB & Air SB) and 12.3 BR (Ground RB) at rank VIII reduce the gap between F-4E and F-15A
- F-4J (tech tree) & F-4S (premium) move to rank VIII and increase lock-range of AIM-7F to 80 km. and F-4J located before F-14A Early
- F-4D could be 10.7 (Air AB, Air RB & Air SB) and 11.0 (Ground RB) in folder with F-4E. Air-to-Air & Air-to-Ground armament like F-4E except AGM-65B Maverick and GBU-15
- F-4S late would be 12.0 and add between F-4J Phantom II & F-14A Tomcat (F-14A Early & F-14A 1980)
- F-4N at 11.0 in rank VII before F-4J or F-4N (1983) would be 11.7 on rank VIII and in folder with F-4S late

Not sure how the F-4E, F-4N and F-4S Late variants are meant to sit at such high BRs of like 12.0 unless they get like 9Ms and ALE-37s (at least for the Navy Phantoms) or something, and even then I’m not sure.
+1, I am pretty bummed out to see this most iconic F-4 variant is still not here in the game. I am a big fan of F-4B and its clean paint schemes by USN/USMC. I love the VF-111 Sundowners paint scheme.
I support placing this aircraft at 10.3-10.7 BR with AIM-9Ds and AIM-7Es, and I look forward to the day when the F-4Bs and F-4Ds are finally being added to the game to fill the 10.3-10.7 gap.

Now that the battle rating shift has happened, should I make a new poll on what BR the F-4B should be at? I don’t see any way to edit my original post so I assume I’d have to add the poll in a reply or something.

would love to see it with that livery default. but it would probably be better for it to get the aim-9d stock and aim-9e as a modification.
No, AIM-9E was only used by the Air Force, while AIM-9D was only used by the Navy. 9B → 9D is the only progression that would make sense by service history. Also I personally think the 9D is superior to the 9E.

The AIM-9C was only ever used on the F-8 Crusader, literally no other aircraft ever carried it as far as I’m aware. So unfortunately not something that would be carried by any Phantom variant.

But I don’t mind if gaijin considered F-4B as a 3rd event vehicle after A-7K Corsair II or early premium GE between A-6E TRAM and F-4S Phantom II
God please no. That’d be a horrid way to put it into the game, there’s enough premiums available there anyway.
Event I could still take but I’d still prefer it in the tree

So due to mid-July major BR changes for high tier jets, I decided to close the original poll for desired BR and open a new one specifically for this new BR environment. Would had prefered to just edit the original post but it was too old by the time the update came.
To provide some context the F-4EJ (which I talked about a lot in the in-game balancing section of the original post as a point of comparison, specifically how it is almost a direct upgrade to the F-4B as proposed) currently has an air RB battle rating of 11.3 after that July shuffle, which it shares with the regular F-4E. However, at the moment Gaijin is looking at moving it down to 11.0 instead.

- 10.3
- 10.7
- 11.0
- None of the above (state alternate preferred BR in comments)
- I don’t want the plane in the game at all
