F-20, the best plane that never entered production

Sorry to keep messaging here, but I have made two new reports on the F-20:

Missing AIM-9J option: Community Bug Reporting System

Mission 275 gallon drop tank: Community Bug Reporting System

To compile things so far, these are the current inaccuracies of the F-20:
Missing TWS
Incorrect cockpit displays
Missing AIM-9J
Missing 275 gallon drop tanks

Hopefully these last two reports get acknowledged and passed to the devs as suggestions, so at the very least we can have a properly accurate Tigershark in the future…

Don’t apologize. I’m glad to see more F-20 enthusiast’s than just me and I want to see an accurate F-20 in game. It’s only of my top planes and I would love to see this thing reach it’s full potential. Aim-120s may never be seen on the F-20, but even still, seeing an accurate (or as close as possible) F-20 in game would be wonderful!

Absolutely!

TWS report was marked as Aknowledged, then marked as fixed, then ackn again.

Its also missin GMTI mode, i reported but god knows when will they implement it.

The recently added TWS mode in this aircraft only pretends to work. In reality, the contact marker always drifts away from the actual contact.

Do you have this image still? The additional CMs for the F-5E and to an extent the F-20A would ve very appreciated 😭

Unfortunately no. I was only told the capability exists/existed, but have effectively no proof (meaning it’s a nothingburger at best).

Interesting, from my experience TWS works fine except when you try to hard lock an enemy.

So, you think this radar behavior is completely normal? Is it normal for the radar to gradually lose track of a contact instead of maintaining it, or for the contact to be tracked dozens of meters below its actual position? Before the TWS update, it worked fine in the game, but now every radar with TWS mode behaves this way. Yesterday, I tried to explain this to a forum moderator, but then someone like you showed up and said, ‘Mine works fine,’ and the discussion immediately died. Watch the video and tell me if everything there is working as it should.

Im saying when i played with my F-20, TWS was working fine most of the time except hard locking part.

Granted it was one match but didnt expeirenced what you did in this video. Also this problem occurs on other planes as well, its not something special to F-20 as you’ve said.

I had to recreate the TWS error report because it did not meet the criteria for a proper bug report.
Please support.

Here’s the Translation:

In the recent major update, the aircraft received a TWS (Track While Scan) radar mode, but the radar doesn’t track the target - instead it moves the target marker away from the actual position.

Also, the target marker may not appear on the HUD at all when TWS mode is activated.

The bug occurs both in combat and in test flight.

All other radar modes, including hard lock, work normally.

What is the so called radar freeze mode (in real life)?

saw-the-multiple-posts-about-aircraft-advertisements-so-i-v0-dnnzn4t6cncb1

Is it a INS system that keeps data on the screen already mapped? The way they advertise it a lot makes me think it’s a quick toggle.

It looks to have been an actual radar mode, used for navigation while flying at low levels (to avoid any other aircraft picking up the F-20’s radar signature)

It’d be kinda neat to have in-game, but currently the F-20 has incredibly inaccurate display pages for basically everything (along with missing pages, such as the stores management display). I did submit a bug report close to a year ago that was acknowledged, but still hasn’t been fixed :/

Tempted to buy for fun as finished the US grind.

How does it rank in dog fights?

Worth the pennies/ unique enough if you have f16a and f18a?

I’d say it might be worth it on sale. It has a br of 12.3 in Air RB, so you’ll be facing later Floggers, early F-16As, F/A-18As (and sometimes F/A-18Cs), F-14s, and so on.

It’s a decent dogfighter, and the guns themselves are rather intuitive to aim (since they’re mounted slightly above the nose and shoot rather straight). Your only real limit is countermeasures count, which you’re limited to like 45-ish.

In terms of missiles, you get either 6x AIM-9Ls, or 2x AIM-9Ls and 2x AIM-7Fs (though you can always go with an asymmetrical loadout of 4x Sidewinders and 1x AIM-7F). It has a decent radar as well, and its accel/top speed is very much on par with most TT 4th Gens.

The BR is decent, but I wouldn’t recommend it for now due to IRCCM spam.

Radar is excellent, as good as US radar goes (very good) but Aim-7 sucks and lacks mid course correction.

The great thing about the F-20 is that it can do all of this while carrying 2 napalm bombs, increasing the SL/RP earning if you happened to come across a base.

Yak-141 is an experimental product - that’s the same as current F-20.
