I think the fact that 9Ms were pretty much “accepted” to be added to the F-14B in AT LEAST October of last year just makes things more disappointing. Stock grinding it was a piece of cake within like, the first year of it being out.

It is extremely hard to calculate how much maintence costs, but sure, it did take a bit more time for the wingsweep. It’s not an extra 30-40 manhours like the tropes make it out to be tho.
Has anyone else caught the fact that the F-14B livery that we have in game has been historically inaccurate? It’s got a Gulf War era camouflage, yet it possesses the characteristics of a F-14B(U) with it’s LANTIRN and JDAM capabilities.

You can, it’s just that since the AIM-54’s need coolant(until the Sealed variant is added), they need to be in the front slot(s) of the tunnel.
What he means is the stock position of the Aim-54s are still ahistorical, so it blocks their use with sparrows during the stockgrind. Effectively making them useless.

All intensive purposes is a mishearing of the idiom that doesn’t really make sense. It’s like saying the F-14D is better only if you’re tryharding and sweating super hard (intensive purposes meaning requires immense effort to achieve said purpose).
For all intents and purposes is the correct saying that means (in reference to the post quoted) “The F-14D would be in every practical sense a superior F-15C”.

Just started grinding the regular F-14A on console. Haven’t hit anything with the A model Phoenix but an AI bomber.

Honestly try learn Sim and play it there. Especially when it’s at the top of the bracket it can be an absolute monster.
The best part of getting the F-14A is the ability to testdrive the F-14B.
f14a is better than f14b ingame, f14b is utterly useless.

Does somebody know how CM switch works in RIO seat?
Pilot seat also has CM switch but, it is not possible to switch between chaff/flare and, you can’t drop them when gears and flaps are down because CM switch will work as DLC mode switch.
For heads down deployment There should be a paired set of spring loaded three position switches, alongside assorted defensive / countermeasure controls on the ALE-39A control panel by the RIO’s right thigh / knee on the Panel.
For heads up / panic deployment there is a pair of functionally identical 4 way hats within reach of the Handhold above the station itself, if you look at the back of where the pilot’s ejection seat is, it’s the pair of protrusions that are there.
Is it possible to drop chaff/flares same time from RIO side?
I’d assume so, it depends on how things are programed, and actuated. But as the controls are duplicated it should be possible to provide two different inputs simultaneously.
It would just need both hands.
