F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

Most of these points you mention I also originally included in my post but then removed because it was getting too long. So I agree, but this is just how Gaijin reasoned it I guess.

This one particular I also included intially. But then I guessed, I suppose Gaijin could argue that you’re not realistically doing that as you’re firmly attached to your (ejection) seat. I wonder how much free movement you have though.

Can’t we figure this out though, roughly at least. There is probably some info on the display size itself and then assume some viewing distance (or rather work out the viewing distance given the 4-10x magnification and see if it’s reasonable).

I agree in the end though. I think they should just model it based on FoV only for these type of sights. It keeps things more consistent. But it also just shows that Gaijin doesn’t really care as much for the cockpit view, they’re more about modelling things more correctly for how most people play (so not the cockpit). Still, even with that, magnification numbers are quite rare to find, so they should not use them anyways to keep it in line with other sights. A case of something being gimped in-game because it tries to be more realistic (in one way) than other things.

Could someone test if the F-14 can turn and burn like the Aardvark? I’ve been away from my setup all day.

it cant, currently only the F-111 has it

Nice. All Gaijin had to do was look up on Google “F-14 turn and burn” and see a clear photo of a Tomcat doing it…

But that would break their streak of ignoring the F-14 completely. Can’t have that.

Or it is the fact that only one singular vehicle in the entire game has it for now as its not fully rolled out

Not many planes can do it at all.

And currently only the f111 can do it in game

The Flankers are missing it as well, and nobody is crying about it because it is the first day of dev server

Lets see if they add it.

hey mikey can you try resubmitting the bug report for F14 AOA switch should be out of testing now

Might actually be worth trying it now. A report for the F-2A got accepted.

F-2 Flaperons Lacking Zero AoA deployment (MLC, ME/DLC)

If that ends up getting it then it should mean that we can report the same for other aircraft.

Nice, now we just got to wait and see what the response is.

Add images of where each of your evidence is, it makes it easier for the tech mods

Best to lay it out how I did it;
Issue:
Vehicle affected:
Source:

Images are of the Front cover (you wont need as you have linked it)
The page on where to find the evidence (full page)
and zoomed in picture to make it easier to see the part you want (not needed but useful)

Is there any available documentation describing the throttle response of the TF-30?

Afaik, its response was really bad and takes over 10 seconds idle to full afterburner.

I don’t think it’s that bad… The GE-F110-400 has a zero to Full AB rating in 4 seconds. I don’t think it would change that heavily between the 2.

TF30s are still late 1950s to 1960s engine and was only available turbo fan jet in US at that time so, nothing surprised if its response is bad.

IIRC, Heatblur modeled it super slow in DCS but, We don’t know what documents they used.

I know it’s off topic, but dropping one for the F-8E as well which used to have this issue, was fixed and is now back again…
