F-14 Tomcat: History, Performance & Discussion

Honestly would have been more surprised if they gave a yes. It is a shame though.

Probably, I’m gonna try mid or mid 1980s to mid 1990s tomcats manual.

A model is more important than B model for me.

js nuke atp. we need early 1950’s mentality for F-14 manuals

I mean … Iran most likely received the documents relevant to the aircrafts they got along with the aircrafts …

Buying the aircraft also includes ground equipment, training for pilots and ground crew and any technical material that is needed to employ or maintain the aircraft …

It’s not like they delivered the aircraft to Iran and told them “Here, have fun figuring out how to fly and maintain these” …

Yes, likely some detailed technical know-how regarding the maintenance of the more sensitive aircraft systems and its weapons was withheld and there were American contractors on the ground doing those parts, and on their way out they tried sabotaging many of the aircrafts and weapons hoping the Iranian technicians wouldn’t figure out how to fix them … But I don’t think “flight manuals” cover those things anyways …

Either those documents contain information (E.g. tactics) that are still considered relevant or it’s just bureaucracy at work, not doing more than the absolute bare minimum that they have to do, especially with the risks involved (E.g. People coming after them later down the road with the excuse of releasing sensitive information etc).

Well, it would be good to find manual till 1995, to report lack of auto flaps on tomcat if possible

As far as I know, a manual specifically for Iran exists as of 1978. It was called F14AAA-1(IR), 1.1(IR), 1A(IR), etc. and never appeared online or even in physical copies.

Sorry for pinging but, is there any news about this issues?
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/buIYXizvc3bA

I reported this issue 8 month ago when Gaijin added JDAMs in the game. However, We still don’t have Sparrowhawk HUDs or still not remove JDAMs. When JDAM was about to be implemented on the F-4EJ Kai it didn’t take this long for JDAM to be removed, why do we still have JDAM on the regular F-14B?

This is because all of the current camouflage on the F-14B is all pre-OFP 317 with the exception of the marketplace camouflage, and if they implement the Sparrowhawk HUD, it will require a variant and name change, as well as updated camouflage. Also, changing aircraft variants in the games are basically never happen, except some exception like USAF F-4Es.

Can you at least clarify whether the Dev team will remodel F-14Bs or simply remove JDAMs?

Hello

Currently there is no new news I’m afraid. Cockpit remodels can be scheduled and queued into our existing content plans, however if a vehicle has a full cockpit module already, this can be a lower priority issue than other matters. The report currently remains open, so it has not been closed. Meaning it’s unlikely the bombs will be removed.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hopefully we will get our Sparrowhawk HUD as soon as possible because modern HUDs actually help for playing Air SB and can be 1 step of implementing F-14Ds, which has almost same HUDs.

Still waiting on F-14D

Does anyone know channel loss on F14B i heard F15 is around 6%

Close to 1% if I had to guess.

you talking in game or IRL

because in game F15 has ~20-25% channel loss
