Been facing a fair few of them lately. Even the 11.0 ones eating AIM-26Bs from Mirage IIIS C70 to the forehead.
9.0 to 9.3 probably. Its only two missiles, hardly gamebreaking and the miniguns are going to make the already trash flightmodel even worse. But at least it’ll be able to kill something. I highly doubt the Early Falcons will be better than the Super Falcons. Worse mobility, no proximity fuse still and will miss just as badly to anyone with half a functioning neuron.
you say worse mobility, but on the AIM-4/26 thread I believe optimistic things have been determined concerning the early falcons, that may put them above the super falcons in gameplay
Eh, its early stats. The AIM-4 Super Falcons that the Six Shooter gets are worse than the AIM-26Bs in every metric.
And the Early AIM-4s are likely not going to be rectifying that. They have less range than the 106’s Falcons because those were upgraded specifically to have better motors. And the AIM-26Bs can actually reach out and touch you at 10km unlike either the AIM-4 models.
I remember the 6’s Falcons were made specifically to fix the worse reliability of the early Falcons, and then the AIM-26B was birthed to fix the Falcon’s issues.
Yes but what you get in real life and whatever gimped version we get in WT is up to Gaijin. If we can get AIM-4Hs for the 102 and the 106 then the Falcons will actually become usable. If not, then the 102A will pretty much be a gunfighter with a missile to surprise an unsuspecting target that’s even less aware than what is required for a 9B to hit. I am not seeing a reality in which the 102 gets more effective missiles than the AIM-26B at 9.0
While the -4G and -4F are obviously wrong for the F-102A, let’s hope it’s fixed before the next live patch, and you should be able to mix IR and SARH Falcons: 3 x AIM-4As + 3 x AIM-4C/Ds.
As discussed earlier, the 12 rockets occurred when you mounted one or two AIM-26s in the bay because the central bay had to be modified, deleting 12 out of the 24 rockets.
As for Salvo options, @lglscs pointed out in the MG-10 YouTube video, timestamped for your convenience, that it may have existed as an option on the instrument panel. It’s suspected that the 12-rocket salvo option was blacked out.
I even have a source for the pilot’s (Lt. Ray Roberts) testimony that he fired a six-rocket salvo. Again, it’s the pilot’s words. It’s likely the crew just reduced the number of rockets for safety and training.
BTW, I found another video of an F-102A firing rockets. At the 2:19 timestamp, you can see the rockets self-detonate in the air (not proxy, of course).
in the video with the rocket firing they do admit that they were pre-fuzed flash head rockets which is more for analysis of dispersal than any combat effectiveness
In my opinion, it’s more of a detriment to the F-106A, since you can mount 2 x AIM-26Bs on the wings, Super Falcons in the weapons bay, and a 20mm gun, which would contribute to its great effectiveness.
Where did I say I want it to stay at 9.0? If it gets its AIM-26Bs it goes to 9.3 minimum which is fine because of those two missiles. It won’t be dominating games and it won’t be overpowered it’ll actually be worth playing. Right now flying it is an actual detriment to your team.
I don’t want it at the exact BR of the MiG-21F if it can be helped, and I don’t want it at 9.3 in sim either. I’d be fine with a premium or second version with that, considering that in order to mount the 26s you already need changes to the rocket bay I really don’t know if they would even add it to the current airframe
I mean if they really wanted to they could have the US version with irst, gunpods and aim-26b’s and place it at a higher br than the greek version which had neither of the above, or you could make a suggestion to that effect. The visual changes to the rocket bay (blanking off the inner rocket tubes) could be done in literal minutes, and there is already a difference between the 3d models of both versions anyway.
