bro, you gotta read my explanation before commenting because if you did, you would’ve read that I acknowledged it can reach it but due to many factors, it’s chances of hitting a target is significantly reduced.
edit: I’m not asking for them to be buffed. As long as it’s historically accurate, that’s fine by me. My issue is that Russia (a bit of china) is the only nation that has reliable stand off weaponry. AGM 130/142 can equalize the playing field (at least for US, Israel, Britain)
Firing an AGM-65 at your hypothetical 20km launch distance, it will take nearly an entire minute to get to the target and by the time it gets there, the chance of said target going behind a tree, building, popping smoke, etc. is extremely high and the missile will self destruct. The Kh-38MT can get to that same target at a high speed, in less than 20 seconds, from that same 20km launch distance, AND has inertial guidance to boot, though I will dismiss the IOG as a very minor advantage.
Do you think it’s possible the current edition of the F-111C is leaving the door open for additional year models of it in earlier and later configurations to be added later on (especially notable by different camos, different sidewinders such as the 9Bs and 9Ms, different engines etc)?
Out of curiosity, I wonder if the RAAF’s F-111s will have Perspex windows, not glass. Perspex was thought to be more resistant to bird strikes than glass, and more heat / friction resistant too.
Just remembered this news clip. Note the Sidewinder rail location.
but did 9l×6 and gbu-15 is conformed? There was a mount image in the development log yesterday, but today the test service update is still not added and the dev Article seemed to say gbu15 only for 111f
I think it’s even worse, from what I once tested from 15km range (5km altitude, Mach 1 speed), it took over a minute, 60-70s to reach the target. Guided bombs came in slightly faster at something like 55s. So a 20km launch, it’s going to take a while longer.
And to boot the bombs don’t have the problem of getting shot down in the meantime, at least not if they don’t use guns (much more difficult). From sufficient tosses a guided bomb doesn’t even lose speed at all, cruising at near mach 1 for its entire flight and going even supersonic in its terminal dive, in comparison mavericks start of good, accelerated into the supersonic regime but quickly drop off to be subsonic and even LOSE speed in the terminal dive as it enters thicker air, it can drop down to speeds of only around 650 kph in the dive…
Though I don’t want to downplay the Mavericks, in most cases their strenght is their number (6 in a lot of cases) and in this case all with IR seeker, which is still excellent.
I doubt that however, it’s definitely not that fast. 20s with 20km is in excess of mach 3 flight, from what I know, the Kh-38 starts off going Mach 2+ but drops to around low supersonic speeds nearing the target too. Of course this is still very good, especially since there is 0 reason to launch at 20km and at most 12km due to rarely facing Pantsir.
The Blocks are actually on there now (I first noticed when I looked at the devblog and spotted them, had to check on dev and they were there)
CM amount itself hasn’t been updated yet, but now we actually know it WILL be by the time the update comes out
Not all changes are made to the Dev server. Some stuff is only on internal builds until it hits production. It’s likely the internal build that the Dev blog shots came from.
