Don’t be, IMHO knots and feet feel like they are better units for use by people in aviation than kmh and meters
Yeah. Not entirely sure on where feet usage comes from. But fairly certain Knots and Nautical miles comes from the fact the Aviation industry basically modeled itself after the Maritime industry on insception
But does work well. I cant get my head around KPH and metres in Air.
Feet probably became a thing because there was no precedent, after all you don’t really have to worry about altitude when your always at sea level. Increments of 1,000 3,000 and 5,000 feet just feel better and more useful than their metric equivalents
Just cuz its used, doesnt mean it isnt incredibly stupid. Some things are done a certain way simply because we’re collectively too lazy to change to a doing things a better way.
Knots are also better for navigation purposes as the distance of a nautical mile “is an arcminute of a meridian at a latitude of 45 degrees” which probably means a lot more to people in the shipping and aviation industry than it does to me.
All I remember is that knots and latitudes are connected.
Yeah, beats me as well. I remember watching something about it, but I dont recall much :D
Radar can do this? Scan an area with pretty enough detail?
I somewhat agree with this. My government stupidly chose France for our new submarines even though the other offer was way better in the long run.
I wonder how much money the french company spent on politicians to incentivise this decision.
Sadly we kind of destroyed our own production capabilities.
Australia looks from the corner with their US submarine deal
case in point, that random arbitrary value makes RBE2 AESA underperform
If you’re talking about the Netherlands (only one to buy some Suffren after the Australian mess), i think they got some offset directly for dutch naval industries and subsidiaries
The other bidder went to justice and lost its trial i think ? You know, could also be that they make actual good product idk. Corruption is something widely monitored in the EU and the Netherlands now, especially when the whole affair goes to a trial, so unless you have any proof, better not make some baseless assumptions.
Sometimes you win, sometimes not. Did not scream to cheating and what not because Canada did not go with the Naval group option
But enough offtopic
I mean, sorta, not really. You can still get around it by using SRC PDV like I mentioned earlier, and its really not like you are ever going to need more than 92.5km lock range in TWS specifically on the RBE2-AA with current map sizes and weapons. Its also not an RBE2-AA specific issue. most radars at top tier have sub-100km lock zones in TWS.
As a Brit, I should note that any and all French arms export successes are due to Skullduggery and Corruption. That some of their offerings may be more suitable for the customers in question doesn’t even come into it. Nope.
They do a range of modular submarines (like zee Germans) for all budgets and capabilities. For some countries Rafale or late-model Mirages just make more sense. Britain can offer the Hawk -or- the Typhoon - not a lot of in-between really.
Although, I suspect Dassault is possibly regretting getting into the Byzantine Indian Arms market with all the hoops, backflips and intrigue endemic in that market. Proof that the Universe has a sense of humour…
Yes
Let’s just hopes it’s fixed before meteor shows up (who am i kidding, meteor won’t be modelled correctly anyway)
if the map sizes havent changed, Even Meteor-ER isnt going to need a greater lock range than is modeled
yes and no, yes because most of the fight happens <30-50 km anyway, no because i can’t really see them taking off because of that weird 90km limit.
But i would hope Gaijin will increase the map limit if they implement such missiles. Their effective range won’t be in the 100s of km anyway, but still it will leave little room for evasion
What point are you even trying to do. I’m trying very hard to understand what you want to say but I can’t find connections between your sentences
It is sarcasm. Look at who I am responding to and the subject (French gaining arms sales and accusations of foul play).
Oh alright, it’s just that your message wasn’t a reply so I thought you just lost your mind and were talking to yourself
