Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

Ah, to be fair, not that important given current wt meta in RB and mainly in Sim is BVR. I dont even carry 9Ms on eagle anymore.

Something they have proven reluctant to add for AMRAAM carriers

I just wish they would reduce multipath of top tier ARHs to 40m, ground hugging is still too rewarding / common. (Something that caused an increase of airfield camping lately from my experience.)

don’t put that much faith in gaijin, its UK, Germany, & Italy getting this

yeah, its nuts. The maps are too flat. They should just go and make early radar missiles ending with skyflash, 7E2, 7F and R24R - 60 meters, mid life - R27s, 7M, Aspide, super temp, S530F 40m and fox 3s… make it 20-25 for it to barely work. Even that 20 figure is achievable on some maps but you might get splashed from ground impact.

I’m confused. I thought Eurofighters had CAPTOR radars. Either CAPTOR E or M. And M is an AESA system.
But this seems to be some form of upgrade to captor E that still mechanically wants to move the AESA "dish? " “plate?” what do you call that part?

CAPTOR-E (has multiple variants) is AESA, CAPTOR-M is MSA.

Yeah I edited that as I just noticed it.

E is AESA. M is mechanical. M is afaik the D version which came after the C variant was upgraded due to being outdated.
every M should be the same (unless its a C).
theres 3 E versions
Mk0: Initial ECRS with 2 plane swivel
Mk1: a significantly upgraded Mk0
Mk2: new version with only 1 plane rotation, new functionality but bigger, heavier and more expensive so only on T3A or higher

notably as well that different countries decided for mk1 and mk2

germany was mk 1 , uk mk 2
i think italy decided to go for mk 0 now because they didnt wanna wait anymore ? @Il_Signor_Regio besides that were part of mk2
spain was mk1 as well i think

generaly mk 0 is supposed to be the export variant

Making multipath worse with the current gamemodes would be an awful change unless your only source of fun is playing BVR LARP with F-15s because that’s going to be the only viable strategy for RB. At least right now some aggressive play is possible.

I still think the most rewarding playstyle is to stay at an alt just below contrails form, use your TWS to map out the positions of the enemy team, fly away from your team slightly so the enemy has a decreased chance of spotting you with the crowd, and then look for people doing the same on the enemy team, then you have the option to deal with them or try and get lucky and kill a spaceclimbing BVR larper, but do something to burn some time before the furball forms, then you can pick people off who aren’t paying attention or are in bad aircraft. This strategy gives you plenty of room to notch/defend the early game SPAMRAAM and gives you an infinitely better position than someone who is groundhugging to save their life until they run into an enemy

@Morvran @Rileyy3437 or anyone else

Do any of you have the Haynes book on the RAF typhoons? I was considering buying it for reading it but it could also prove a good source for some things

F-15I can carry 360 CM, all of which are standard calibre. If BOL flares CM won’t get fixed, it will hamper Eurofighters survivability against AIM-9Ms and R-73s alike.

I think gunjob amd flame are the 2 to ask.
They are the aircraft source huys most likely to have those

According to RID Italy chosed MK0 only for his initial T4 for speed up deliveries. Keep in mind that the acquisition is going to end in 2034 so Mk2 will be ready by then and a new radar for T3 will be needed. Also Italy didn’t exit from the Mk2 programme.

ah so i remembered it roughly right

either way italy gonna end up the first main typhoon user state with an aeasa radar
